Quick change spring

Post by BigA24 » Sun Feb 19, 2017 7:40 pm

I am just curious, has anyone ever heard of someone mixing a version 2 gearbox into a quick change spring? I am shooting 400 fps and want to play at battle cat in Anderson on occasion. But I don't want to have to pull my gear box apart every time I decide to head down there for a few hours..

Lots of V2 shells have quick change springs of various designs.

I have found a bunch of them shopping around but I can't really fork out the money on a new shell. I was just wondering about modding mine. If it's even possible.

It is, but it's a pain.

Is it just a matter of milling out the receiver behind the spring? And should I worry about the spring guild rotating back out? I like doing work like that, but it is hard to find any information on the web about it.

It's easier to do with a V3, but it can be done with a V2. I have seen the finished product and it's essentially just a lot of dremmeling. Basically you buy a spring guide meant for a QC (usually has an Allen hole in the back) and then modify the shell accordingly.
