Gamecock Airsoft

Post by C Taylor » Wed Jan 09, 2013 9:01 pm

We are the current official airsoft team out of the University of South Carolina.

Image

Requirements to join:
We are a laid back group of students/players who go out to a game to have a good time.We are more of a group than an actual team with our team members on other teams elsewhere. We also carpool to games from the Columbia area, that means anyone may join us at a game and run with us. Any current student or Alumni of any USC campus can be apart of the team.

Regular members:

Chad Taylor- (username: C Taylor)
Hometown: Boiling Springs, SC
Major: Sociology
Experience: AOSC and SCAA games since December 2007
Armory: LM4, L96

Matt Ives- (username: Mives)
Hometown: Myrtle Beach, SC
Major: Criminal Justice
Experience: 3 years of games at ABP, First AOSC game: 07/7/12
Armory: KWA S-System, Dboys M4
Other Team affiliation: Socastee Airsoft

Mike Donato- (username: Watchdog2)
Hometown: Roanoke, VA
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Experience: 6 years of Virgina Airsoft. First AOSC game: 09/29/12
Armory: VSR 10, KWA M4, CA M4

Kyle Belvin
Hometown: Hickory, NC
Major: International Studies
Experience: 5 years. First AOSC game: 9/28/13
Armory: Echo 1 Scar, Echo1 SR-25, M4
Other Team Affiliation: SWC

Sim Harvey (Capt. Harvey)
Hometown: Summerville
Major: Physics/History
Experience: First game: 9/28/13
Armory: Dboys M16

Command Structure:
We prefer not to have a CO of the group at a game. We want everyone to have a good time and not be told that they must do something. Plus that leaves room for people to step up and try their hand at a leadership role.

Go Gamecocks

How is the process going with USC to become a legitimate club?

I am unsure of the process so what does USC require to do so?

USC requires 10 students to sign a petition for the club.(done) The School also requires a facility/staff member to be the "Sponsor" of the group.(this is our biggest obstacle)

So in other words, we are very close.

Get a guy in ROTC to talk to one of the Cadre. I know that's what the guys up at Clemson did when they stood up a team. Tell them you'll help out with training and be stand in OPFOR or something.

Hey Fellas,
This is Rolando, I met you guys this past weekend at SC Vs GA 2. I'm the guy who works for USC! Sorry I couldn't get to you guys, I had to dip out around 6pm and you were in the fight so I figured I'd wait and find you on here. Anyways, good playing with you guys, let me know when you guys get together. I'm downtown so I can come to you guys wherever. Here's my info and looking forward to playing with you guys! Take it easy.

Wow, how'd you pull that off? Did you get them to fund a PTW armory?

Today Gamecock airsoft participated in their first organization fair on campus. I am very happy to report that we had 19 students stop by and express interest in our organization. We will be having an informational next week and we hope to bring some brand new faces out to games.

Yessir!

You can expect to see two of our newest, most hard-chargin, motivated, USC Freshman recruits out at Fulda kicking some A** along side us Vets. One has been to Fulda before, the other one, fresh out of a boring campaign of paintballin.
