A general guide to not making me mad!

Post by SteevoLS » Tue Jan 19, 2010 1:48 pm

The internet is a big place, and a lot of us already have a lot of experience when it comes to using forums. Unfortunately, that can't be said for everyone. Since I'm a nice guy and awfully accommodating, I've decided to put together a set of guidelines to help you, the forum member, have a better experience here.

1. DON'T USE ALL CAPS. ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS YELLING. YELLING IS BAD, UM'KAY? likewise, don't use only lowercase letters. this looks lazy.

2. Try to punctuate and use some semblance of good grammar! You don't need to be an English teacher, but a total lack of effort in that regard will just make you look dumb. A well-written post will make you look much more intelligent. A side benefit is that you won't look like you are 12. (No offense intended if you are 12!) Finally, don't deliberately misspell words! Terms like "LOL" have a purpose. Misspelling does not.

Example 1: i luk pretty st00pid wen i talk lyk dis rite??1/?
Example 2: I don't look as stupid when I talk like this, right?

3. Don't be dumb! Most forums (including this one) are not the place to post illegal downloads, pornography, and Communist propaganda. Reave that to the Chinese, prease.

4. Only hit the "Post" button if what you have to say actually contributes to the discussion. Blurbs like "kewl gunz dewd" or "lolz man" do not constitute a substantive post and will probably be deleted. Don't waste your time (and my time!) in senseless posting.

5. Do not use someone else’s thread for a private conversation! We have a shoutbox and PM system. You probably have an instant messenger or a cell phone. Use them!

6. When replying to a post, do not quote more from the previous post than you have to. If you only want to reply to one sentence out of a post approaching War and Peace in length, only quote that sentence! Additionally, don't quote images. People don't need to see the same picture twice.

Follow these easy steps, and you too can be not banned a well-liked member of the community!

DO NOT ANGER THE GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ!!!!!
You name a game, I've been to it.

If I've banned you, then you have more than likely deserved it.

If I deleted a post it didn't need to be there or I simply didn't like it.

The fact that you just bumped a 2 year old topic isn't getting you off to a good start.
