Resolution No. 5, 12-07-10, Raising FPS Limits and chrono weight

Post by SteevoLS » Tue Dec 07, 2010 9:57 am

Legalese will come later, but here are the changes to our FPS rules in a nutshell:
  • Chrono readings will now be taken with .25g BBs, to be supplied by the AOSC at each event.
  • The fully automatic limit will be 400 FPS with a .25g BB, which is roughly 450 FPS with a .20g BB.
  • The maximum FPS allowed in CQB environments will be 300 FPS with a .25, roughly 350 with a .20g BB.
  • The minimum engagement distances remain the same as before.
Rejoice, laugh, whine, and groan in this thread; don't clutter up game threads and other parts of the forum.

400 with .25 comes out to be what kind of spring?

And this is to go along with the NC rules isn't it?

An M130 with .2s is about 440 which is about 390ish with .25s

And not just NC, but the .25 standard is what most national events are using these days, so it's updating SC with the rest of the country.

^ What he said. The main goal here is to help get more people to our games. In the long run, matching the standards of the large-scale games will be necessary.

Exactly, we are trying to progress into the future and move south carolina airsoft to a national level.
This matches most standards out there.

The updated MEDs will be released soon. They will be essentially the same as before, just calculated with the new numbers.

When are the new MED rules coming out? It's starting to look like I may need to up my DMR to keep it decently above everyone else's gun.

I need to crunch the actual numbers, but they will be the same as they are now. That is, a 20' MED with a 400FPS/.20g gun would be a 20' MED with a 350FPS/.25g gun.
