You can do it with any size pliers, or your teeth. You can squeeze the metal through the plastic.

can you get to wear you are holding the gearbox in your hand?

without the grip.

if so look slide off the selector plate and watch as the trigger pushes the trigger contact slide forward. do the black piece go forward, or does it go up?

I'm still not sure I understand exactly what the symptoms are. Can we have a detailed play by play of what happens under various conditions with as many variables controlled as possible?

By shut off, do you mean the motor is drawing power and trying to turn the gears, but can't? (If so, you will hear a faint click from the motor when you pull the trigger, and your fuse will blow if you continue to hold the trigger)

Or, do you mean you pull the trigger and can hold it down and nothing happens, as in, the motor is not receiving any electricity at all ?

Under the assumption that it is the latter, it is some sort of wiring/electrical problem. Due to the intermittent nature of it, it has to be some sort of loose connection. If you have already made sure it was not the Tamiyas or the fuse/case/connectors (sometimes fuses can separate inside the case, causing it to look fine until you pull on part of the end of the tube, this can lead to an intermittent connection) then I would check to make sure both of the connectors on the motor are solidly on. If it's not any of those things, inspect all of the wiring outside of the GB to make sure there is nothing wrong. Once you've narrowed those down and not fixed it, you'll have to inspect all of the wiring inside the GB to find the problem, or have someone do it for you.

+1 million to sir henry.

But anyways as Dom was saying it does sound like a lose connection somewhere my guess being in the trigger contacts somewhere. It wouldn't hurt to open it up yourself (again you can just google hwo to do it) to take a look at the contacts.

The good news is I just filmed an assembly guide for a JG G36c and it will be posted in a few days, after editing.
