I said I was going to do it many times, so finally: I'm teaching a totally free (though you may want to bring some money for dinner, we will probably order pizza) AEG tech class. All 'students' will be provided with a disassembled AEG when they arrive. There will be work tables and tools (not enough for everyone though, bring your tools too) and I have several AEGs to choose from (first come, first choice). I will be going between everyone giving instruction and oversight. You will learn to reassemble basic externals and internals, and build the gearbox from the ground up. In addition to the absolute basics of gearboxes, we will also cover shimming, lubing, cleaning, parts failures, compression, etc. The goal is for you to arrive and convert a pile of parts into a properly put together AEG that will run well for a long time, gaining hands on experience in the process. This class is for everyone from beginners who have never seen the inside of a gearbox to those who have done tech work before, but want to get a better grasp on some of the finer points of gearbox work.
