I think its the best I've done.
Base painted Black grillpaint then taped a lot over it, added a krylon white and took the tape off. Then one more taping over that and a good thick red over it.

He painted it to be a fashion accessory for my alpenflage seen here.  ;D

Admittedly the front sight is askew; the screw is stripped and I need to shim it with some tape or lock it on with some loctite.
