Just posting to keep everyone informed,SCDR wrote:South Carolina Department of Revenue Hacked -- Your SSN and Credit / Debit Card may be at risk
All,
This information has been going around, but I want to make sure the entire
team receives it...You may have already heard the news that South Carolina
Department of Revenue was hacked last month. At risk are the Social Security
Numbers and Credit/Debit card information for anyone filing SC tax returns
since 1998. The state has set up credit monitoring through ProtectMyID.
I have attached the media release from the state.
To activate the free credit protection go to: http://www.protectmyid.com/scdor
The state activation code is: SCDOR123
Please share this information with anyone else who may be at risk. Thanks!

If the hacker was smart enough to get this stuff, he'll be smart enough to wait out that year...

That is why I have had continuous monitoring for the last 4 years. You can find a good place for cheap and they often offer perks like insurance companies at no extra charge. They saved my butt once and that was well worth it. They saved me when I bought my house.
