I had another question for those veteran to this place. On the field's site, the ground rules state, "No player will pass the gate without FFP. Full face protection (FFP) is defined as coverage of the major parts of the face, focused around the eyes and mouth."

However, I saw a ton of people in the videos with simply goggles on. I have a boonie/beret and airsoft glasses, and was wondering if I need to bring paintball masks or if what I have would be good enough?

The AOSC rules are that you can use partial face protection (eyepro only) if you're over 18. The FP site does say everybody needs full-face, but Putnam (the field owner) never enforces it.

This is because in the videos most of the action that was synchronized was staged. Therefore no one was shooting at us, thus no need for full face masks.
It is a good idea to wear full face, or at least some form of mouth protection because loosing teeth is fairly common in airsoft. Hope to see you out there on the battlefield.

Would a balaclava, shemagh, or any other kind of cloth wrapped around the head and concealing the face be considered FFP?

If you are under 18, you have to have either a full hard face mask, or a sports-style mouth guard and full-seal goggles. If you choose to wear a balaclava or shemagh, you have to have a mouth guard under it.

^This.

I am really looking forward to trying out this new format! BTW, searching to verify that a hostage really is unarmed will be necessary, because insurgents can be sneaky. Cuffing may be allowed, I haven't decided yet.

Maybe a dumb question because it has been a couple of years since I played. I know there is a 300 fps rule for the field. I use a classic army steyr AUG which is stock around like 320 fps shooting .2. Would shooting .25 make any differences so my gun will pass the chrono test? I just don't remember many guns that were shooting below 300 fps and would hate to make the trip for nothing.

The limit is 300 with a .25; you'll pass with flying colors.

The rule of thumb is that you loose around 30 FPS for every .05 grams you increase your bb weight from your original chrono. So your FPS is 320 with a .20, it will be around 290 FPS with a .25. Please correct me if i'm wrong, I don't want bad info on here.

There are a plethora of calculators out there, but if you chrono at 335 or less with a .20 you will be under 300 with a .25. Do bear in mind that they carry the same amount of energy, which is a why a standard chrono weight is used. Shooting at 400 FPS with a .25 is not equal to the same FPS with a different weight, which is why you can't just throw in heavier BBs until you gun chronoes under the limit.
