BrassGuard Mesh Masks

Post by SteevoLS » Sun May 16, 2010 9:58 pm

Given that CQB games in SC are probably going to take off quite a bit in the near future, I've been looking for effective and low-profile means to protect my face and teeth. Plastic masks are all good and well, but I always end up having to deal with my voice being muffled, sweat pooling in the recesses of the mask, and so on. BrassGuard (based in Moscow) has been making quality, well-designed mesh masks for some time now. Just recently, they started a promotion which will get you one of these:

for 24.2 Euro's shipped. In US dollars, that's roughly $30.

A mesh mask like this has many advantages over a plastic mask. You can breath easily, your goggles won't fog due to air being pushed up by a plastic/neoprene or shemagh/neoprene mask, and you get the open-air feeling that many of us enjoy. These masks are very well reviewed on international sites like ArniesAirsoft, and I fully intend to purchase one in the very near future.

So...

Heads up! Full-face protection for anyone under 18 at CQB will soon be mandatory, and 18+ players will at least be required full-seal and a mouth guard. $30 is a darn good price for a mask of this quality, especially if you already have a good pair of goggles already.

would you have to wear a mouth guard under this?
I would list all the games I've been to but...I've been to almost every game since December 2007.

No. It would still count as face protection in the same way that mesh goggles still count as eye protection.

Bitter End does make a similar mask, but it doesn't have nearly as much coverage and is also $20 more expensive. I like the look of the strap system more on the BrassGuard mask, too.

Looks like a good deal, Steevo.

You think it can fit under a balaclava?

It would probably look a bit strange under one, but I'm sure it could fit over the top. These are available in colors and patterns, too.

i might be reading it wrong, but on the shipping page it says that its $76 to ship to the US

I *think* you're reading it wrong. The "Special Offer" says 24 euro's for a single mask, shipped. I emailed them to see if that was in fact the case. If it is, I'm buying one or two.
You could rock that, Remy.

Looks like something from Fallout.

Well, I did the conversion, and if I understand it right it would be roughly $30 shipped for the "Stalker".
