I was thinking if i did get this it would need modification.  Some type of flat goggle strap.

I've seen these for sale, and in action once.  The biggest issue with face masks is that they cut down on your airflow (bad for somebody out of shape like me) and they make it difficult for you to be heard by others.  Don't know about radios...but I'd wager that nothing good comes from putting cloth over your mouth.

I've never been one for lots of face protection (which I will probably regret later), but I'm thinking that this might be some better protection, wish slightly better breathing room (it's steel mesh):

If you go to the link I posted, it looks like it is held off your face.

I've seen these in NC. From what I hear, they protect as well as a facemask, it's just more comfortable.

Cool, I might have to pick one of those mesh "masks" up soon. I hate getting shot in the face, but I love the open-air feeling of no mask.

I was looking closer and the mask stands off a few inches from the face.

The difference, Trevor, is that the one from Bitter End is a kind of mesh so it breathes better and wouldn't be near as hot. ;)
