Re: What mags do you use?
All depends on what you want to use. On the rare time I do not run my m60 I use mid caps I just like them much more then high caps, no winding and no bbs making noise.

Re: What mags do you use?
High caps vs Mid caps has been discussed over and over in all sorts of airsoft forums. Basically, High caps offer much greater ammo capacity, but can be loud and noisy. Midcaps don't have as much ammo, but are quiet.
From looking around, it seems the more Mil-Sim like a person is, the more likely they are to use mid-caps. Just because they don't like the rattling, but they enjoy reloading, and you have to do that pretty often with mid caps.
Personally, I use high caps, I don't think the noise is that bad, I'm usually not trying to hide anyway, and the greater ammo capacity is a great advantage on the field, especially against people using mid caps.
In the end, I think it comes down to personal choice.

Using midcaps or low caps that aren't plastic also means more weight. Yes hicaps hold more bbs but I think the extra mag pouches and extra weight from metal outweighs the extra bbs from a hicap. So, hicaps=more mobility and less molle space required (or gear)

They make mids in metal and plastic. Same with hi-caps. In fact, my mids are plastic (p-mags) and my hi-caps are metal (KWA brand).blackout wrote: Using midcaps or low caps that aren't plastic also means more weight. I run 7 midcaps that hold 140 rounds each. They are plastic(obviously, since they're G36 mags) so they don't weigh much, don't rattle, but still hold a good bit of ammo.

Re: What mags do you use?
I find that my mood impacts what I want to wear. Here's my bit:
Hicaps: I have only found that high quality hicaps (as in costing more than $30 each) are reliable enough for me to actually like and use as much as my midcaps. That being said, it's VERY nice to be able to play during the summer with just a primary and 2-3 hicaps in my pocket rather than a PC with more gear than I need. It's been my experience that cheaper hicaps need to be wound every 30-90 rounds. This isn't nearly as big a deal as reloading, but it annoys me.
As far as the rattle: I only every hear mags rattle (even nearly empty ones) if I am running, at which point I'm not trying to be quiet, anyway.
I use drum mags in my RPK (I got an RPK specifically to use drums, of course), and suddenly I am playing a different game: far less mobile, but far more able to defend an area and supress.
I use mids in any gun with a high ROF that eats through ammo. Why? because many hicaps (except for the HQ expensive ones) cannot keep up with a high rate of fire. Even the cheap MAG brand plastic mids can hold their own on high ROF setups.
I use lowcaps on my snipers (VSR-10 and CA SVD) simply because there are no other mag types easily available for those guns.

I use mid caps because I fire primarily in semi-auto, and I've found even more expensive hi-caps often misfeed. Mid-caps, for me anyway, enhance the mil-sim experience, having to change mags after a certain amount of shooting. As far as rattling hi-caps go, I just find it irritating.

I know this, and for my statement this would be why I said "mids that aren't plastic"Stomper87 wrote: They make mids in metal and plastic. Same with hi-caps. In fact, my mids are plastic (p-mags) and my hi-caps are metal (KWA brand).

I use lowcaps, because I'm just that awesome. and because that's all they make for GBBR's...

Re: What mags do you use?
My first night game made me appreciate midcaps....or hate hicaps, however you wanna look at it. When your visibility is low, your hearing becomes more acute. Every small noise seems like it can be heard for miles. So...I kinda agree with Smitty. I just depends on the OP. Doing a game on a hot day? Hicaps it is. Long term night game? Midcaps it is for me. I have room for 8 mags, I only have 2 hicaps. I can pickup 8 mag brand midcaps for $54. So no problem there.

Re: What mags do you use?
So bottomline is this dude: buy a little of each. Highs and Mids for th Unlimited/Semilimited games, lows for the RealMil games. I usually run with an AR, I have 4 Highs, 9 mids, and 16 lows, and I'm usually well equipped for each game.

Re: What mags do you use?
I bring highcaps and midcaps. I use the midcaps usually because I think it's better to have to reload a little more than wind all the time. Get midcaps that have at least 120 rounds. They also have 190 round midcaps, now. I'd reccommnd those. I use hicaps when I want to take off my vest. When I'm using my vest, I use 7 midcaps. It takes me a while to run out of ammo.
