Shotties?

Okay, I have little money put, and before I can convince my parents to let blow it on airsoft, I need to know what, exactly, to get.

So, this is essentially a "Wut am best shotgun" thread.

Here's what I'm looking at:

first two are basically the same, and the last one is your only trishot. Id suggest the trishot if you want an actual shotgun spread, or kick out the money for one of those sexy maruzin gas shotties.

I like the 870 as it's quite familiar to me because I have a real steel. It will also work in almost any loadout imaginable.

However, the triple blast of the last one is really cool(took a blast from one earlier as a matter of fact)

a pump shotgun in airsoft is as useful as any spring gun, meaning not very useful at all. If you're wanting a pump shotty, get a trishot or don't bother getting one at all. The $60 trishots come in 3 different stock options, pistol grip, full stock or retractable. But it's a $60 springer, they are awesome for what they are but they are $60, don't expect it to last forever

The UTG tri-shot is a go-to standby as a CQB shotgun. I wear a pistol grip one on my back in most games as a tertiary weapon. Great "reflex shot" gun.

If you want a shotgun as a PRIMARY, though. You likely want to shell out for good quality. Three options come to mind, and I will list them in rising order of cost:

Get a cheap clone gas shotty ($100-200) and pull it apart, lube it up, replace ALL O-rings, etc. - this will increase the power tremendously and add range, though accuracy will still be poor

Get a Tokyo Marui Tri-shot shotgun - pricy for a ABS springer, but nobody does low-FPS accuracy like TM, the shots will spread nicely in a triangle pattern and let you get great hits at near-field range, GREAT ambush gun

Go with a Marushin tri-shot gas shotgun. Want top Q? Pay top $.

Thanks Smitty, I was looking at the Marui and those gas shotguns too. When something in the ACM shotguns break, can it be replaced though?

'fraid not. Take the TM, for example. The trishots all have custom "triple parts". It's sort of three cylinders and three barrels stuck together. The spring is tripled, the spring guide is weird...nobody makes those parts.

Parts that are likely to break are the cocking arm and the pistol grip (if you are hard on it). However, you should know that TM sets the standard on long-lasting parts and guns. I've got a full-length TM spring shotgun, and spring wore out from basic use before anything broke. It still works, it's just that spring can only get me about 150 fps, now. That was after years of hard use.

As for the gas, I honestly have no idea. Probably not many replaceable parts, but a good mechanic could probably fix all sorts of issues. Gas guns tend to last as long as you can make them contain their gas.
