I just want to point out that Mesh eye-wear is not ANSI rated yet is allowed. Granted, this thread is about shooting glasses, so it's not important for this thread. I just didn't want people to get confused.GREEN NINJA wrote:

IMPORTANT!!!!!!
[glow=red,2,300]You must wear ANSI RATED EYE PROTECTION. There is NO EXCEPTION to this rule.[/glow]
On that note most shooting glasses are ANSI rated. I preffer glasses over other forms of eyepro even though it does leave you more vulnerable. I recommend all newer players wear FULL Seal or masks.
I wanted to know everyones opinion on wearing shooters glasses during a game?

Been playing since 2004 and been using regular shooting glasses 90% of the time since I started. I have taken a LOT of shots to the face, and never had a bb go behind the glasses. That said, I actually did have a round bounce off of my weapon and end up in my right nostril several weeks ago at Fulda Gap. (Point being: freak shots can and do happen) However, you guys afraid of a shot 'knocking the glasses from your head' have pretty much nothing to fear. Because of a typical bb's mass (anywhere from .12g to ~.89g) it'd almost have to be going so fast that it would pierce straight through the lens before it knocked the glasses off, and at the kind of FPS required to do that you're looking more in the department of firearms than replicas. A similar comparison would be the myth about a toothpick (under tornado speed wind) becoming lodged in the side of a tree, a popular claim, which I'd believe long before I believed the same toothpick had the velocity to uproot the tree.
Physics lesson aside, here's my opinion:
On the subject of safety, I think it's a reasonable mix of player prerogative and common sense safety. The military authorizes wrap around glasses (not just full seal goggles) for safety purposes for example, the current issue model being Revision Sawfly glasses. The simple fact that the lenses are curved to fit the general shape of the face greatly improves coverage. I'm all for semi-sealing glasses, but I'd be against something like a pair of aviators or prescription glasses (ANSI rated or not) simply because of the much smaller coverage area.

True, but a fairly obvious exception. Some field owners don't allow mesh for insurance purposes, but so far it seems to be every bit as safe as ANSI lenses.Veimos wrote: I just want to point out that Mesh eye-wear is not ANSI rated yet is allowed. I wear safety glasses, and being that they are Z94.3/Z87 approved they protect from the side and will stop a bb no problem. I just have not found a pair of goggles that won't fog up on me, I wish motocross goggles were rated for the impact because it's impossible to fog them!

I wear Stanley V-max construction goggles. They are "double paned" so to speak and are made to stop flying objects. They have a full seal and I have managed to stop them fogging on the most part using a bit of rain x and a bit of backyard engineering to allow airflow. They are very comfortable and from past experience can stop a pellet gun shooting at ~600fps from 10 yards. Just to make this clear, I was not wearing them while it was shot.
