Gun hits never count. We tried those rules at one game Rayne, but the stnd is still the same as in the current ruleset. Obviously different games still try different things. Steevo and Gambler took the words right out of my mouth again.

I agree with Steevo, if the player is dishonest for one method they are going to be dishonest at any other methods. This game is about honor and honesty, enough said.

Re: New Healing option.
Op: Irene 2008 used a pretty similar system. Medics carried rolls of white masking tape, wrapping a piece around a hit player's arm. It feels pretty involved, and can be done in WAY under 30 seconds by a well practiced player. Personally I think it adds a bit of realism, considering our military's current practices on 'care under fire' and 'tactical field care', etc. (don't get me started please, I've had a combined 120 hours on bullcrap CLS classes since I enlisted. It's possibly the second most boring 'death by powerpoint' experience one can endure)
As stated above though, it only takes a few cheaters to ruin the system. Not saying the current system isn't thoroughly raped every so often (ridiculously fast counting, disregard of hit in the first place, human shields, all that garbage), but this would certainly be a fun, if frivolous, addition/modification to the rules.

Re: New Healing option.
Speaking of neat healing systems, Garrett implemented a neat system for OP24-2. Designated medics were given a stack of "cards". When you were hit, the medic would go over to you, draw a card, and hand it to you. Depending on which card you drew, you would do one of 3?(I can't remember how many options there were) things. Options varied from, "You're dead, bleed-out and respawn", to "You're instantly back in play". As you filter in and out of HQ you are to return the cards. When the medic runs out of cards, he/she, has to go back to HQ to stock up.
The only down side is that it doesn't work to well at night...at least for those of us with no flashlight. Oh, and as mentioned before if someone wants to cheat, they could claim the card was whatever.
(It was said earlier, this is a game of honor, and almost any system implemented will depend on such)

Re: New Healing option.
I'd like a more involved medic rule at least for MilSim games.
Doug it's not about everyone having white strips. you have a limited number of medics and a limited number of heals per squad before the entire squad has to return to respawn.
I posted a medic rule idea in the SC/GA planning thread but it was shot down as too complicated for that a game like that.

Say what you want, think what you want, it won't change the fact that AJAX will do what we want, when we want, including roll the ____ over you.

Re: New Healing option.
We just have to bear in mind the differences between game types and the willingness of players at various game types to not only take the time to read, but also put in the effort to keep track of and understand various rules. These rule sets are certainly excellent for MilSim and RealMil games, but the standard simple system is what is reverted for use at the average game. I plan to use a card system at the next MilSim I do.

Re: New Healing option.
I personally hated the medic system in op:24-II. I am a fast player so i am always a medic. The cards were 30sec heal, 3 min heal, and KIA. (I still have the cards) It was a pain in the butt when your a medic because i felt like all i did was heal. especially on the 3 min. heals. If these cards come back into play i wont be a medic again unless there are some revisions made to them. I agree with a medic having a number of white strips then once they run out they have to go get more at HQ. Another idea for medics too (from being a medic every game) is a medic can heal (or tie on a white strip) on anyone. If a medic is hit anyone can tie a strip or heal him. but player to player cannot heal. Once again this is my opinion based on past experiences of being a medic.
I would list all the games I've been to but...I've been to almost every game since December 2007.
Re: New Healing option.
All the ideas you guys are kicking around are a good start to adding another layer to the game. I have been gone for sometime now due to playing the same game just different fields. I am playing again, so I will share how the healing system worked at the last game I attended. Cheap decks of cards, a hole punch and limited medics. Once a player is hit, he ir she calls for a medic. Once the medic arrives he or she will give said card to the medic. The medic wil ask where he or she was hit and use the hole punch to mark the card accordinly. Once the 2nd hole has been punched the player will have to return torespawn to recieve a new unpunched card. However before a player can respawn after being hit for the 3rd time a medic MUST pernounce he or she dead. It really adds a very different layer to the game. All the items can be purchased at the dollar store for under 20.00 and the hole punches can be collected after each game to be reused at the next game. This posting from my phone sucks
