Sniper or Assault Rifle
Re: Sniper or Assault Rifle
1. Buy M16
2. Later, upgrade to M150-170 with awesome hopup and compression.
3.
4. Semi-auto rifle with upgraded bolt action performance (profit)

Thanks, SteevoLS, is the m150-170 a spring for the gun? and does it increase accuracy

Re: Sniper or Assault Rifle
My L96 has budget upgrades, and you can afford to put so-so parts in the cylinder area, but when it comes to hop up and barrel, you must get the best money can buy. If you want to try sniping, buy a JG Bar 10 with a scope ($135) on Airsoft GI, and do the "airbrake" mod, buy a tightbore barrel, and buy a PDI hop up chamber. You will have a very competetive sniper rifle, and the Bar-10 is a very light rifle, you could probly carry an AK-47 or 74 with it. If I had to do it all ovr again, I would have bought a Bar-10, and not my L96. But my L96 is still my baby

Re: Sniper or Assault Rifle
I personally love the "up close and personal" tactic vs. the shoot from a distance role. so naturally, i would go with the M16. but with the right work, you can make the M16 into a sniper rifle / assault rifle, and be able to swap roles quickly and easily.
I have a M16A4 that i use to do both, depending on the environment i play in. i say go for the one that can adapt more and switch when needed.

It depends, if you want a semi-auto rifle that has the same range and accuracy as a bolt action, get whichever suits you. Not many people can use a bolt action rifle to snipe effectively, but they will always have their place in airsoft.

There is a certain intimidation factor when you hit one of their teammates with a single bb. That single "THUD" scares everyone around.

Noob, VSR-10 or APS-2 system (clone or not) with good upgrades is not useless. We like to kick it old schoolEcho1 Operator wrote:snipor rifles are useless in airsoft

Airsoft BBs and guns are no where near accurate enough for consistent long range shots. Factor in wind, brush, and newbs not calling hits. Airsoft sniporing=useless.

Re: Sniper or Assault Rifle
Echo one has a legitiment point. I've ran a few games with a sniper and I hated it unless you buy a really good accurate expensive gun(usually you have to do a lot of upgrading yourself) with a dead accurate scope, and are a good shot and have a gillie suit snipers aren't good. Even if you have all that stuff a bb gets affected by the wind greatly unless you have a very heavy bb which means it doesn't go as far and there will always be those noobs who don't call their hits if they only get shot once and the don't see you shot them or they don't hurt.

Re: Sniper or Assault Rifle
1. You don't need a ghillie suit AT ALL.
2. No matter how much the base sniper rifle costs, you still have to do a LOT of work and modification
3. Was this "sniper" you ran actually upgraded???
