I'ma put in my vote for the RS Type97 if you have the cash...and I think its more like $380-400...I haven't seen it with the new spring but that has to be the most solid airsoft gun I have ever felt/seen

My suggestion is to go with an M4.
M4 is very universal, and relatively easy to work on. Besides, no matter what barrel you put in, from 300mm to 509mm, it still look stylish.

The Navy sometimes uses a M14 EBR as a assault rifle too.
