California law to make airsoft guns a bright neon letter
Re: California law to make airsoft guns a bright neon letter
Don't get me wrong, I know the California legislature is downright moronic (just look at their balance sheets), but just how self defeating can you get? Did they ever stop to think of the millions and millions of dollars in tax revenue this will lose them at a time when their state is going bankrupt? Then again, why would they stop to think about that when they don't ever stop to think about how they will fund all of their wealth redistribution either.

I don't think airsoft is the real target here. The revised bill would allow California to supercede federal laws in regards to imitation firearms. IMHO, the end goal here is to even further curtail ownership of real firearms.

There's no kill switch on awesome!

No Rack, but look at where a lot of airsoft importers and stores are based at. Having this law in California pass would not be good for airsoft anywhere.
Re: California law to make airsoft guns a bright neon letter
What would happen is the stores located in Claifornia (AirsoftGI, Evike, KWA, and whoever else is fighting this) will be immediatly shut down for a good 6 months. That also means any of their affiliates, or people they ship to sell their products, will also be shut down for a time. Every cent we spend now on any of those stores will be lost, and we will be forced to go for more expensive Asian markets. SC Airsoft Supply would even be affected.

there are a couple of west coast stores not in CA. aorsoft outlet NW (think thats the name) is based outta washington state for example. It would definitely slow down supply, but we could still get what we needed. also it seems likely that the CA based stores have developed or are developing a contingency plan based on the law passing.

Yeah there are other stores. Weapon Blender is Ohio i believe, Godfather, Airsoft Atlanta.

All of the stores not in California have their guns magically teleport to them from China and Japan.

Guys, you are missing the point here. A law against airsoft in CA is bad for everyone who plays airsoft. All it takes is some idiot politician in SC to see the CA law and think "Hmmmm, this could get my name in the headlines. Let's give it a go." Or simply some anti-gun politician with a hair up his butt.

this is very true. but but being in such a poltically conservative state, i dont see that being likely to happen. gun rights are huge here, and its not a stretch to see any attempt on replica guns as a push to infringe on real steel rights. and there would be a huge uproar over that.

What he is pointing out is that every single airsoft store in this country (seriously, there are no exceptions to this) are supplied from California based wholesalers, namely Spartan Imports and JAG Precision. Their warehouses are in California, the docks the ships from Asia bring the guns to are in California, their offices are in California, etc.
If this law passes, it would mean that every single airsoft retailer in the entire Continental United States will no longer have a wholesale supplier, at least not until they move their business operations in their entirety to another state, which will take months at least. Every store in the country will run out pretty darn fast.
Also, where do you think most of the airsoft stuff shipped here fro overseas goes through customs? About half goes through NY, but the rest goes through CA for the most part. Guess what that will mean? Seizures galore.
