Thoughts on a High School Airsoft team
Re: Thoughts on a High School Airsoft team
Our form for LHS actually asks what and where some activies we have planned will be held. I made a map of SC with Triggertyme, Red Fox, Airfarm, Fort Prince, and two local properties I own, each with a small description, location, site, and estimated time to. I, through MadJack, heard that the ROTC teacher here has actually been wanting to make a team, so I should have an easy start point. Talking to him this afternoon.
On another note, the form asks for a mission statement, what do you think?
"The mission of the LHSA team is to, through playing the sport, promote firearm safety; teach self discipline, leadership abilities, problem solving using strategy and tactics; basic electrical and mechanical maintenance; and increase self confidence and the physical and mental abilities of players (members) through rigorous activity."

Mission statement looks good, as for the activities, I'd get the closest field nearby and get a waiver form together and shoot it off with the proposal, as for the JROTC Advisor, if he's game, for all means go for it. Hell maybe he can teach a class or two. But yes, I'd go ahead and get ready for the legal protection documents and forms, as it seems to be the biggest issue.
The mission statement looks good, I'd run it by a english teacher just to make sure the grammar is correct, as to not look ignorant when it is sent to the director. Proper english goes a long flippin way. Well I'mma head back to doing my history homework... that was due 2 weeks ago.... in my marketing class.

Yea, do you mind if i borrow yours or something? I'm not a legal person..
As for fields, I own ten acres right over the dam, about 20 minutes from town, that would be perfect for small scrimmages.
And yea, I'm currently doing annotated bibliographies due third block, but I find the AOSC more interesting

Sure, no worries, I just edited off the internet, awesome for the field, if you have any questions, just text meh, (843 422 3981) about to slip into a coma in english. Poetry is rather homosexual.

Good poetry is good, most modern poetry is retarded.
Great mission statement IMO, if you guys want a good waiver, just use the AOSCs and modify it. Most waivers are pretty much the same, in fact I made the AOSC's waiver by simply ripping off the old SCAA one and making it a little bit broader and more landowner specific, since that's who really needs liability waived.

Dom, this is awesome. Would you mind if we modified it for our schools use?
Besides some songs I listen to, I hate poetry. But everyone to his own.

Sure, waivers are all ripoffs of someone else's anyway, including mine.

Re: Thoughts on a High School Airsoft team
Both the Colonel and the school's 'student activites' lady said that the club was a great idea. Issue being INSURANCE. LHS has been, for three years, been trying to create a rugby team, with mutlipule rejections based on the insurance policy. So when i asked Mrs. Brewer, student activites lady, about an advisor to the club, she told me not to look until after the principle has had his say. I have no presentation or physical meeting on this one. I sent my form, the locations of the AOSC rotation fields and my own, and a copy of both the AOSC wavier and the Bluffton draft. Hopefully he will either come talk to me and pass it after more info, or will just go ahead and pass based on the writing.
So from Talking to Mrs. Brewer, i think im legally confused. She told me that the waiver (which states no members of the AOSC, high school, or club can be sued for any physical harm due to the nature of the game or transportation) wouldn't work on account of if anything was to happen, the parent could sue the school. The waiver, that would be signed by the parent, participant, and a notary, should null that legal action right?

Re: Thoughts on a High School Airsoft team
From my talks to the principal this morning, there are two types of negligence that can happen, gross negligence, and general negligence. The difference being negliegence is just where something happens on the spot and the school does not know about, such as jumping down the mound to hit the deck, and hitting yourself on the head. Gross negligence to my knowledge is where they sign off on the form with out any insurance or waivers posted. The school cannot be sued for normal negligence, but gross will get their ass in a ringer quick.
Played at the field today, however it was at night, and frankly, Rambo kids + Airsoft Guns + Drunken Chaperone's + Nighttime = Verrrry Interesting. As far as the field itself goes, its not bad, some terrain elevation, but will be clearing it out and setting up a MOUT type deal with single story buildings, similar to Redfox I guess. Talked to owner, he is on board, just need legal issues settled, and Bluffton Airsoft is a go gentlemen.

Re: Thoughts on a High School Airsoft team
Simply add a clause that waives liability against the school and those acting on it's behalf, et al, including negligence of any form, etc. Waivers are never ironclad anyway, they are more to discourage frivolity.

Re: Thoughts on a High School Airsoft team
Well, the Lexington High Airsoft Team, or LHAT, has been approved!! We are now an official club, and our first meeting is March 22nd! We should be up and running enough for TDC in April, with a few tactic classes under our belts. Guys this is going to be good!
