What got you started in airsoft?

Tell your stories! A little extra background information never hurts for your airsoft buddies.
---
I got started about 2 years ago when a friend got a clear LPEG from Wal-Mart. We all thought it was the coolest thing in the world, and spent many afternoons shooting eachother from 25-30 feet. Range? Pffft, who needs that.
Shortly thereafter, I discovered ArniesAirsoft and then the SCAA. In December of '08 (I think) I asked if Samuel/MCG and I could borrow a couple of guns for our first game. Some kindhearted soul named Dominum offered his M14 and MP5 up for the afternoon. After a 3 hour trek to Blue Hole, a semi-awkward "Are you Dominion?", and a long, hard day in the sun I was hooked. I managed to get along for a while without my own AEG, but I eventually bought a Thompson and went from there.
It's been about a year and a half, and I am now very good at spending too much money on guns and accessories, shooting noobs, and making "awww yeahhh" faces after doing awesome things in the field of battle.

Started with a clear p230 springer(which literally just broke today

)about 4 years ago. Then my friends bought some and we figured out we could shoot them at each other and that eventually turned in to backyard wars. So i bought up a crap load of springs and lpegs and went though them like candy. I eventually got a cyma ak47 and then discovered the scaa and attended my first game in march of 08
and now im a gearwhore

A friend of mine showed me his CA M4 last March an I bought a gun that week. Attended my first game at ABP and have been hooked ever since. In the last year I've bought 7 AEG's(Sold 2 of them) and gone through more gear than I can remember.

My friends Johnny first got my hooked with Wal-Mart Springers in 2005. I had a lot of fun with those playing hide-n-seek and just plinking. Then I started playing at Age of Steel here in Summerville until it closed down

. Then I found SCAA and bought a CA M4 Sportline. My first game was Redfox in the summer of 2008. Then I made friends with Marshall, Chris W, and a whole list of others. I joined Black Company with Wunder and was detailed to Public Relations then eventually to CO. After BCSC died, I found AOSC and got picked up by Arbee and IMC. Now this summer marks my 5 year milstone and I've been happy with airsoft since

Quick timeline:
2004-Spartanburg:
A local hobby store has a few TM guns on display, way out of my price range. I go online and order a springer M4 and buy a springer M9 from the local hobby store. Then I go online and start looking for people hosting games in my general area.
A little later I find a post by teh Schreibs (only really old SCAA people will get this) on airsoftforum.com and I catch a ride out to his field.
2 months later I buy a TM Fa-Mas SV and a KJ Para-ordnance 1911.
A month after that I buy a TM PSG-1
That winter I sell both guns and get a TM SR-16.
---Lots of shit I don't remember---In that time we make SCAA into a website, we oust Schreibs for a multitude of reasons, host a few ops, I became known (briefly) as a Gearbox V2 god (those of you who know about my SPR remember that), and then there was that thing with the Sig 556 ...and somewhere in there I joined the Army,
2010-Anderson area
Just got a PTW recently
That's the short version

I bought my first springer airsoft gun about 12 years ago, although I didn't really know it was called airsoft at the time. Did a lot of shooting around the house, and eventually lost the springers.
Than again about 2 years ago a few of us started picking up cheap springer again and having some great night games in the wooded lot behind the house. Eventually that led to shotties, co2 pistols, and eventually some decent JG aegs. I do believe it took more skill back then though, as the springer were only accurate for like 25 ft... LOL
First real game was DS3, and have been hooked every since.

I got started because of my kid. He bought a couple of orange spring pistols from Walmart and told him he was crazy for doing it. I wasn't getting shot with a plastic bb. (look at me now). That was in 2003. We moved to our house in June '06. There was a wooded area with a creek and all, so Justin and his friends started playing hide/seek. They asked me to play so I did. I was hooked. Next day went to Kmart and bought several pump shotguns. We thought we were hi-tech then. Those turned into more shotguns from Walmart, then Crossman CO2 pistols. Became a bada$$ then, or so we thought. In 2007, bought several cheap AEG's. Now we really were bada$$. In 2008 I started searching the web and ended up buying guns from Battlecats and was told about Georgetown in Dawsonville GA. Once we went down there, the bank account went dry pretty quick. I played my first game in SC at Deep Scar4 and have bought a lot of gear and guns since then. Now we will go just about anywhere to play, That's how I became a airsoft junkie. Thanks to this "hobby" I had to start doing side work to play for my habit. I AM a junkie for sure now.

Back around 99 I played my first game of paintball, it was cqb and we ran those games like a swat team. I was hooked, I new this was what I wanted to do. I picked up a paintball magazine and started researching what was the best. Turns out there was an add in this magazine for a company selling airsoft guns. My eyes lit up, automatic bb guns, replicas at that, no paint mess? hmmm.. I think I want an airsoft gun..
Bought a TM MP5 PDK with the fold out stock.. Bought a 3000rd C-mag from Den-Trinity, of course I had already bought 4 or 5 200rd hc's. Bought an automatic glock from airsoft atlanta.. Later bought a micro-uzi, still love that gun more than the kwa mac11..
Taped and spliced 2 extra batteries to the mp5, for a higher ROF and so I didnt have to dismantle the grips to change batteries.. Got online met the athens folks who played at that time, bulldog paintball, started running games. Never had so much fun. Played off an on for a few years, back then it wasnt the way you SC guys have it, it was few an far between games and mostly out of town.. with work and life it fizzled but I always knew I would get back into it..
My last job posted me up in SC and the rest is history..
Thanks a million SC!!

well this little obession started with a video game...GHOST RECON 2, my son for halloween wanted to dress up as a GHOST and i wasnt going to settle for a cheap click gun from party city, so i put the internet to use and found these cheap airsoft guns...looked real enough. so i order it and see how fun this lil china lpeg is...its a g36c...well halloween leads into christmas...so i buy a bunch of cheap guns and the backyard wars began...so i start doing mroe research and found the scaa and ncao. NC rules stated you had to be at least 14 years old to play, well that covered me but my son was jusat turning 10...which was sc's min limit to play. So for his 10th bday we go to redfox for our first event...At this time we had aquired a ca sportline and a used A&K s-line...i hit up the local army navy store for some bdu's....and Soap the 10 year old legend was born. Our first outing started ruff, but by the end my son was grinning ear to ear. Since then i have aquired many unique guns, made awsome friends and acted out my inner rambo. I blame it on my mom who didnt let me play with toy guns when i was a kid( happy mothers day). For me its a father-son thing, soon to be father/son/daughter thing. I am proud to have turned my son into a lethal platic bb killing machine.
have to say thank to luis at airsoft armory usa and the guys at airsoft carolina for feeding the machine!

Started in January of this year. Buddy made me come out and play one day, and thought he was nuts. was hooked by the end of the day. He offered me a busted up m4 and it was on from there. 2 weeks later he gave me my JG G36, in the form of a box of pieces. Spent 3 weeks rebuilding that til it fired normally again. Then he i was given(see a theme here) a non working MP5, which im still working on. Played my first big game at Red Fox in February, and after htat i was determined to buy a good gun. still havent done that yet.

Me too, if it wasn't for Josh and his Crosman R70, we would have never found this game.

My story is a lot like the second part of Garrett's story....mainly because I'm one of the few that was playing those backyard games...fun times. We would stay out till 1 o'clock in the morning shooting eachother 2 feet away cause it was so dark. DS3 was also my first real game...I was rockin a Wally World shotty so I learned real quick that I needed an AEG...bought a JG m4 and been hooked since then. And most of you know I'm hooked on screwing up my guns too lol

Well about a year ago me and my dad drove down to newberry once to talk to Garrett but he was playing airsoft so he let us use some crappy walmart guns and we had a lot of fun. Garrett told us about op desert crucible so we went and we were hooked. So we went and got a couple of jg's and i've been playin ever since. So thank you Garrett
