Footwear

I'm on my break and rather bored, so I thought I'd get some opinions on footwear.

Personally, I prefer combat boots because of the support they offer and the thick, tough soles.  That, and I like blousing the legs of my trousers over the tops of my boots, haha.  They also seem to have a tendency for not getting stuck and coming off when you encounter, say, a hole or a mud pit that's notorious for trapping tennis shoes.

The boots that I've been using are black leather warm-weather boots (meaning that they've got the mesh at the ankles).  I believe the mesh is Gore-Tex--I don't actually have them here in front of me to check, haha.

The only problem I've had with them so far is that they're slowly falling apart...

What else works well? I wear a pair of jungle boots and they are great. My only complaint is that they rub raw spots on my heel sometimes.

That same thing happened to me at first. Really, just wearing them more got rid of it pretty quickly, but if you want to help further just wear two pairs of socks.  8)

I tried that but it didn't help. :-[

Then it sounds like they may be too small for your feet.

Yeah, that would be the only explanation; if possible, get another size up and see if it does the same. If so I recommend switching brands or something because my rubbing problem went away almost instantly . . .

They are not too small, if anything they are a little bit big. I plan on getting a new pair, probably after I get the CYMA Sig.

That's also a legitimate reason for the rubbing.

Actually, come to think of it, I think I had a pair of boots that were too big for me and did the same thing . . .  You really have to get the perfect size when it comes to boots.

Anyways, back on suggestions: I have a pair of these http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10841724

I know they are Walmart boots but they get the job done. They have a lot of cool features that all of the other boots have like steel toe, waterproof, and slip-resistant outsole. I like them  :).

Think of boots more like gloves for your feet. Too small and they constrict your movement, too large and you can't hold onto anything because it moved around.

I personally wear a pair of McRae Intermediate Weather boots. They're light for boots and have a very thick mesh that let's the boot breathe. I definitely recommend them. Oh, and they're issue too, so I got them free :-)

I picked up a pair of those at Goodwill for $5 about a year ago; they offer good support and are very easy to take off and. more importantly, put on. I wasn't expecting much, but they have more than fulfilled my expectations.

Silver... how do you run with steel toed boots!?

I didn't know they were supposed to hinder my running . . .  :-\

I don't know about you, but I like being able to move my toes. :P

Oh, well that is no problem, I have like a half-size up so I have plenty of room.
The only thing that might mess with my running is the heaviness  . . . . but it is still fine.  :)

I have a pair of Gore-Tex boots that I wear. I've tried playing in Reebok sneakers, but every time I do I hurt my ankle...so boots are definitely the way to go 8)
