I have always wondered and it has crossed my mind sometimes if a team tournament could be held, at maybe red fox for its small fields, for just a fun tournament that is team based. One shot one kill your out. Its just a thought tell me how you feel on the subject and possibly some rules to go along with it.

The reason this hasn't been done is that most of us don't like speedsoft, and that it would mean a lot of people sitting around and not getting to play most of the day. Obviously I have no problem with people doing it, but I have no desire to.

Ya i feel you most teams dont have but 5 guys and most of them can get more than 3 to a game but then the bigger ones have 12 and it would be an unfair advantage.

For airsoft, you can't really play one team vs. one team, unless you want it to be exactly like paintball. There are realmil sniper competitions and tactical competitions sometimes, though.

What if we were to play a game similar to the end of Viper, where as say 4-5 teams are made and pit against each other at a large field, say Airfarm?

Airsoft and the word "tournament" shouldn't even be put together... I started playing because it was fun. If I want competition I would just go through the NCO of the year board... Airsoft is my stress reliever. I want to make friends and have fun. Yes... I give 6mm a hard time and post some goofy stuff, but honestly I want to meet everyone, get along, and have fun. Once you introduce tournaments and true team competition, then the worst in everyone comes out and you lose sportsmanship which in turn causes the need for refs who may be biased to a certain team...

I agree. usually the main problems with tournaments in no hit calling. Its easier in paintball bc you can prove if someone is hit. airsoft is a little different. A person may not call a hit because they fear for their team losing. Not everyone is like this i know, So getting the most mature and honest people to play for a team would be the best bet.

Valet points I was just wondering what the airsoft community thought of the thought and those points are respected.

The idea is good. It would give teams that have worked hard on tactics a way to exhibit their skill. With that said, I doubt there would be enough interest for a solid tournament turnout. Maybe this thread will prove me wrong. As the sport grows though this seems very viable.

Though it would encourage the application and developement of tactics, it wouldn't do so any more than regular games do, it would simply serve to develop different tactics.

I partially disagree. It would depend on how the tournament is implemented. If done on a small scale where spectators could see what was being done, and how effective the tactic is/isn't, then this could motivate others to look into or start training in tactics. Hence it could "encourage the application and developement of tactics" moreso than large scale games IMO. With small scale games, I would agree a little more with your statement.

I disagree with the statement that competition brings out the bad in everyone. I have helped run several competitions and competed in a couple as well. I haven't really seen any issues.
I think a lot of airsofters are scared of competition.....at least it seems that way. Nothing wrong with not winning....it just makes you strive to do better next time.

I can promise you guys, a good competition, meaning good senerio friendly people and a good field would bring out a good turnout. I know My guys wouldn't mind having some 1 team vs another, break to reload and watch the next.
Just gotta make it worthwhile and fair. 1st gets blah 2nd gets blahblah and 3rd gets blahblahblah.
Make it to where we play Redfox or something, have everyone play either a different field ((thats not fair!) < yes it is! Because were playing the tourny to find the best team all around, meaning they can play any and all fields and still be victorious.) Eliminate a team from each game, pit them against another, winners go on up. so on and so on.

Here is the most important thing involved if you want to have a tam competition. HONOR. Everyone involved in the competition must be known to be an honorable player. I know 6MM is going to have some team vs team competitions this year, but from my understanding it will be more completing of drills and things like that rather than a team on team battle. I'm actually looking forward to them just to help me become a better player.
