So I've been looking for a pretty decent longer range weapon and was wondering what you guys think, I'm thinking possibly a M-14 or similar rifle but I'm up for any ideas. Thanks.

Plenty of longer rifles out there to choose from. My personal favorite asides from the M14:
Each one could have a 4x optic put on them and be very functional (and sexy).
H&K G4 SG-1 - Played a prominent role in the film Stargate.

FN FAL - An oldie but goodie.

H&K G36 - One of the most comfortable rifles to bring to bear, IMO.

Well I would have to say that I have always been a sucker for M16's. Upgrade the gearbox and a good tightbore and hop-up bucking and it becomes one of the best DMR platforms in my opinion.

I would suggest a G&G M14. They shoot amazing straight out of the box, but can be upgraded to be a competent DMR if you want. Or if you'd rather have an AR, I'd suggest a VFC M16.

Sounds great thanks for the ideas That FAL didn't sound like a bad idea to try something different. I think I may try out that G&G m-14 looked at the reviews and they are good.

The problem is that no one really makes a good FAL or G3 for airsoft. Classic Army and Ares are your only choices, and they get many quality complaints. They aren't really field ready.

That does pose a problem. what kind of upgrades would be good for a G&G m-14?

Not true, Tokyo Marui makes an excillent G3 in either the SG-1, MC-51, G3A3 (discontinued) and PSG-1
i have owned all but the PSG-1 and I can recommend them all, plus if you want more power it is a V2 gearbox so either have some one upgrade it, or do what i did and buy a systema drop-in gearbox
here is a link
Click me! redwolf can also upgrade your gun when you buy it for you. Just scroll down to the upgrade list and click it.

Also bear in mind that there is rarely such thing as a ready made AEG DMR, length does not translate to DMR status, internal after market upgrades do. So, when choosing a platform bear in mind what upgrades are available and necessary to get the performance where you want it.

Yes guys, I know all of this already. What we're missing is a G3 that is ready out of the box and has good externals as well. I want a good quality body with internals that I shouldn't have to replace the second I get the gun. CA and TM don't offer this.
I am hoping G&G will consider making a G3 full-size variant by taking what they already have.
Henry, I'm not talking about DMR-ready. I am thinking a G3 configured for assault would be fantastic.
I guess I didn't really specify in my original post

Would you not be able to take the upper receiver and barrel assembly from the CA and put it on the G&G?

That might be an alternative. However, the original poster probably doesn't want to do that.
For myself, I may just end up buying the CA and seeing what works. There seem to be incompatibilities between TM and CA (mags, selector switch, etc).

Good point.
I read that too, the TM mags don't work with CA and vice versa. You could always try the Jg and echo1 mags though.

Thanks for all the advice I found out that the G&G M14 only accepts G&G mags but is a lot easier to upgrade and a 110 or 120 spring would be a good upgrade

Not that I wouldn't but I don't trust myself at messing around and making things work the way they should lol

They also accept Classic Army magazines, too.
