First time in a gearbox (stories) or any gun

Tell everyone about your first time taking apart a gearbox or another gun of some sort, I'll tell mine.
I remember the first gearbox I took apart was my brother's Cyma RPK's. It was pretty fun actually. We were fascinated. We even couldn't figure out how to close it with only one hand, we had 6 hands on it (my father helped.) We took this apart right before OP SOCO, GA/SC, and later at the game it broke again, and then before Flash Heaven 2 I found out it was the motor :p
Anyways, I have now taken apart pretty much every single gun we have and put it back together. I've fixed many of my friends' guns and my brother's and mine as well. I love the way gearboxes work, its truly something to take note of, that so much custom work can be done with them, so many things need to be changed, and so many things are good the way they are.
Now my first gun I took apart was my TSD L96, and that was the easiest thing to figure out.

My first gearbox that I took apart was a cyma 041b which is a mp5. I was trying to put in a weaker spring for a game at wellford but I couldn't get it back together. I remember that the tappet plate kept slipping out of place.

The first "gearbox" I ever opened was a UTG springer MP5. I thought it looked an awful lot like a Tokyo Marui style MP5 with a plastic gearbox-esque assembly inside. Years later I successfully mated everything but the lower receiver it with a JG MP5, so I was correct. I could have used the lower, but it had no hole for a motor shaft in it.
The first actual AEG gearbox I opened was my old CYMA Thompson. I had to have Dom help me hold the anti-reversal latch in, but after that I had no serious trouble.

The first gearbox I ever opened was on a JG 416 It took me an hour just to figure out how to get to the gearbox and after that I discovered I had to run to lowes to get a t9 screw driver. After that I unscrewed everything and separated the gearbox and the whole thing pretty much exploded on me. It took many youtube videos and calls to dominum to finally get it to work again but that was my trip to the amazing world of gearboxes.

The first gearbox explosion was Aftermath MP5. I had lost the shims and one of the bushings just as I wiggled the gearbox apart. But I got better.

Opened my G36c
Got my stuff installed
Couldn't get it back together
Took it to Dom
Got it back together.
Never will open a Gearbox again....
This happened again with my M4, and I couldn't get it together. Thus, never opening a gearbox again
This is all my own ignorance, so don't take my hatred of opening as something you should do.

My two friends were popping open their G&G gearbox. After watching me open mine, they found it a good idea to hold the spring in place with a screwdriver. Well the spring stayed in place, but the cylinder shot out the other end and hit one of them in the pecker. I take care to point the spring ends away from delicates now.

That is way to funny!
I still have the mess ups of exploding gearbox seperation. But at least I have more parts on hand. Then my wife finds the pieces all over the place and makes a pile for me to put back in my parts bin.

Using a screw driver is a great idea actually, as long as you remember to hold down the rest of the gearbox. I once made that mistake, the spring and spring guide stayed in place, the rest of the gearbox and all it's parts flew everywhere. It was ugly and took a while to find all the parts to put them back together.
But my first time taking apart a gearbox was rather uneventful. I took it apart, saw how stuff worked, and put it back together without issue.

I dont have to worry about anything shooting out since I have a quick change spring gearbox so I always take it out first.
