I want opinions on whether this should go on tan or green side. The camo name is Sumpftarn. Another name is Tan And Water camo. I think it is more tan but want other people's opinion.
I wore it with tan pants the one game I used it.
Here is my actual jacket.

That is going to get you shot by both sides because people will not check their target.

I'd say balancer. Or tan. it looks mostly tan and reddish brown. It's tan.

My gut reaction is tan. Looks very MC-esque.

I'd say tan. There's more tan and brown in it than green, and the green isn't a dark green.

I've worn it as "tan" at a number of events in several southern states, most recently during day 2 of Fulda Gap, 2011 (as the East German border guards service (BGS) used this pattern for a time as well, 1950's-early 70's).
Digital photos can do weird things with colors, the three colors in this pattern are light tan, reddish brown, and yellowish green.

I think you meant West German BGS.

Edit - ...or did the East also wear it?

Second Edit - I forgot to mention mine is West German BGS manufactured in 1975.

Apparently they both did, that's what the wehrmacht-awards post I linked to is discussing. Wikipedia also says so (scroll down to East Germany, listed as sumpmuster): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mi ... e_patterns
Another combloc nation, Czechoslovakia, also used a near identical version for a time. http://camopedia.org/index.php?title=Czechoslovakia
At any rate definitely post-war use by the W.Germans! Nice that yours is so old and yet in such good shape. My set is a mid-2000's repro, much like the Blumentarn sets you see here and there.
Mainly I was just directing folks to more photos (w/different cameras, different lighting), so people could look at the pattern and judge for themselves.

yeah...sumpfmusser...would vote tan as well...strum/miltec made standard BDU tops and pants in this and the splinterB pattern for awhile...the only thing is that they were usually a poly/cotton blend..lol
