I've seen this before. Apparently, it's better than a celcious, but not as great as a systema. The plastic is cheap, and it has a slow rate of fire. Seriously, like 8 bbs a second on a 7.4! It has some nice features like the Systema, such as the gears winding back to the same position every shot, and stops firing when the mag is empty. I personally plan on buying one soon, although I'm not looking forward to the expensive mags...

And it uses the same cylinders as a PTW, so that's a plus!

I can save you all your money and time. Do not buy this pathetic excuse for a gun. There have been so many instances of people buying them and having gears not connected, or other stuff broke literally out of the box. Not to mention there is so much slop between the upper and lower receiver it is funny, like seriously maybe an 1in of play. Then you have the barrel, which you are stuck with because it does not have a PTW diameter barrel (which all after market barrels are based off of), it has an AEG barrel with an even worse attempt at a hop up that of a PTW.

If you want a PTW style rifle the only one to even consider would be a Fight Club Custom FTW. They are made how the PTW should have been made to begin with. Unfortunately they are around 2.5K.

TLDR
DTW=Junk
CTW=Meh
PTW=decent with a few mods (hop, motor, and receiver)
Tackleberry PTW=pretty good(overpriced PTW but really good)
FCC FTW=Great

I still don't see what's so bad about it. Half the guns I buy break out of the box (I have bad luck with guns), so that's not a big problem. Seems like I could just replace the MOSFET and ECU, body with a colt receiver, polish the hell out of the inner barrel (hopefully it's a 6.03-6.05), r-hop it, and then replace what breaks! Still seems a lot cheaper than a PTW.

Well, let's break that down:

$350 DTW is incompatible with aftermarket PTW bodies
MOSFET and ECU would probably be close to $300 to replace
R-Hop is questionable at best in PTW hopup chambers

If you are wanting to follow that route, a used PTW would be far more price effective. I originally had the same thing in mind, but the gearbox and receiver being a different spec than PTW parts makes that ineffective. It also still leaves you with a gun that can not outperform an AEG that cost half as much to build, and will also not be more reliable.

Your best bet if you really want a PTW style gun is to build it yourself from select parts over time, therefor saving money. Or to bite the bullet and buy a prebuilt Fight Club Custom FTW and have the best of the PTW style guns.

Oh and R-hop in a PTW is a joke, I got a good laugh at that one. People have managed to do it and then have it fail spectacularly in less than 4k rounds.

But lets just say some how you do manage to do what you said you would in the above post, congratulations you know how over $1000 easily in a junk gun that can be outperformed by my $250 MK18.

Don't get me wrong I love the PTW's, and have owned a couple and loved them, but they are limited unless you put major money in them. Now I have a polarstar and will never go back. It is so much better.

Is the problem with the metal body really that bad? And a replacement MOSFET and ECU are about $80, and maybe there's a way to custom build one? And why can't you install an R hop?

Oh well, I guess I'll be buying a p* next month instead!

Yes... yes they did.

Designing a brilliant gearbox with state of the art electronics and excellent gears with a unique design that maximizes torque and speed: $453,871
Designing an ingenious cylinder system that allows almost instantaneous changes between springs: $356,200
Desiging a hopup system woefully inferior to almost all others: Priceless

All of the people I have shot with a PTW complained about how bad the hopup is.

I shot plenty of people with my PTW, doesn't change the fact that the stock hopup is crap.

Hop up might be crap, but that's a relative term when the gun can hit a man sized target at 70yds in wind all day long right out of the box. ^-^

I'll grant you that ;)

Echo1s are way better though.

That's kind of self explanatory.
