Yeahhhhhh no tomahawks we went over this a few months back. Rubber knifes are pretty much the only melee weapon we use.

attempting to attack someone with a "melee weapon" is a good way to have someone break their gun on your face

^ this. Attempting to use anything other than an rubber knife is a not allowed and will most likely end up with you hurt.

That's incorrect. There is no rule precluding people from using pretty much any safe, soft melee weapon they wish. However, the "stealth" or "melee" kill rule requires that you lightly touch your opponent with it (you may NOT throw it at them, hit them with it, or slash at them with it, etc.). You must also have LoS on the target, i.e., no stabbing around corners, etc. If he wants to carry a soft tomohawk to lightly touch (not toss or throw) people in his LoS to melee kill them, that's fine. Albeit, a rubber knife not only makes more sense, but is more practical.
I find it easier to just shoot people.

What worried me was he used "special" and "homemade" in the same sentence. Two words that usually do not describe something that is safe.

Generally speaking, that is true.
Pwnage, what is your tomohawk made out of?

Just lead pipe and glass, should be fine rite guise?
I agree with Dom here as far as TYPE of weapons allowed so long as the WAY the weapons are used is legit.
if you throw something, people are gonna flip at you.
my favorite stealth kill is handing victims a card that just says "you just got murked, enjoy your walk to respawn."

I previously used a latex foam rubber "monkey wrench" to get "wrench kills", just for the laughs. It was a commercially manufactured Halloween prop left over from a series of zombie games we ran years ago and although a bit unwieldy, was completely safe (and soft enough to bonk people with). Sadly not very durable, however.

A bit of common sense here goes a long way. If it could hurt someone, it eventually will, and then as Echo1 said someone will break their gun over your face. Don't be that guy.

As long as he obeys the rules and lightly touches his opponent, it shouldn't really matter as long as it isn't a real tomahawk.

Just make sure whatever you use doesn't look real. With as many people as there are that come on to the field with real knives, if I see someone coming at me with a realistic looking knife, they are liable to get a realistic reaction to a realistic knife, most likely a buttstock to the face.

It would be wise for an attacker not to surprise any player. "Soft/stealth" kills are safe ways, but to run at a person, from behind, will not end well with a vet!

Sorry for being late to the post again, but the tomahawk is a PVC handle and a foam blade.
