Hey you guys I have a Ares Star Tar 21 AEG. I bought the gun new and realized it was set for a lefty. Anyway I have fixed most of the basic problems that people report online except for the Hop up issues. I still have yet to find a way to fix it. Other then that the gun is brand new and has only been used one game, after which it has been resting in the original box. The FPS when I last Chronod it was 320 so it is CQB rated and you can use a 7.4 Lipo for a better fire rate (the wires will not handle a higher Li po). I would like to get 350$ for it. Let me know if your interested.

You know, the rifle is ambidextrous, the charging handle can be moved to either side as can the fire select switch. You've just got to disassemble the gun to do so.

The one that I had, yours now, soon to be someone elses, the hop up didn't stay put. I imagine Zoobie is having the same problem. I fixed the issue by replacing the hop up arm and gears with G&G hop up arm and gears. Thankfully, they are standard M4 hop up parts. But those fixed my issues. It's not a hard thing to do, if that's the issue here.

Thats the problem

The Hop up likes to unwind when being fired but now that you found a way to fix It I may be able to swap around the gears and all to fix it. Thanks dude.

Tightening the small screw on the largest hopup chamber gear (the one your finger touches to adjust it) fixes this, unless of course the chamber is plastic and the threads are stripped.

It is metal, but this doesn't help anything for the gun. The gears aren't large enough to make contact with the screw. A second problem is the hop up gear that makes contact with the arm has no nub on it preventing you from increasing the hop all the way. Not really a problem, but it makes it very easy to turn it too far when trying to adjust the hop up.

Unfortunitly Star Folder is right. I change the large hop up gear out and so far it has held in place. I placed a Matrix one in its spot and it seems to be holding but I'm gone let it sit for a few days and shoot it a bit more to insure that it holds.
