yeah that was my understanding as well....Dominum wrote:
I am glad to hear the whole mortar firing at people incident was an accident, though I am still curious as to how it happened in the first place since I was told there was no pyro allowed at all.
what point ? since you say that you're trying to prove something here.......that you're in the corps of cadets at the citadel? so what..that doesn't make you active duty or a soldier in any way.......you'd think you'd at least be able to spell it properly..... yeah , i was in the actual military, not a military college, from 86-91, come from a military family ,and have a BA in history, specializing in western military history from the fall of Rome to the present....wow a whole year of training....guess i need to keep my 5 years of serving my country to myself....rack0730 wrote:Were you ever in the military, bc the ideas I was talking about came from a years worth of military training. I also come from a military family and go to the citadull where you would be surprised at the kind of things u can think up there.savoy6 wrote:lol..now i'm curious.....since you profile says you're 18....any specifics on what you've done in 18 years that i haven't done in 42?......i'mmmmmm just sayin'....rack0730 wrote:Kingsalami I guess I could have worded that last part better. I wasn't saying I had a harder life or he was incaPable of doing I meant it as I have done things that not a lot of people get to do. I never meant to insult how hard of a life he has had or try and say my life is harder than his.

I don't consider the Citadel part of the military but when I am paid by the US Army and trained by them everyday while going there because I am going to commission allows me to say I am part of the Military. I am no different than someone going to West Point, are they not part of the military either since they go to college? I am an E3 in the US Army and will be an O1 in a couple of years. I wasn't trying to discredit your service me asking if you were in the military was a serious question not one trying to be sarcastic or insulting. OH and by saying someone who isn't active duty isn't the same as an active duty soldier is completely false. There are more reserve units deployed in the middle east now than active duty. Why don't you tell that to my cousin who is deployed right now and isn't Active duty. I am sure he and all the other reservist or Nat'l Guard guys would think different. If we were to get involved in a major war I have the ability to be easily pulled out of school and deployed.

my responses to some of these comments in red....

I wasn't trying to discredit your service me asking if you were in the military was a serious question not one trying to be sarcastic or insulting.....the ONLY time i see that question used in the context that you did...

i NEVER said anything about the Guard and Reserves not being active duty.they are doing the majority of the fighting.....i know since i have more than 8 family members and friends currently deployed with varying units......what i said was that you, as a un-contracted freshman that hasn't been through basic yet, shouldn't be going on about how much stuff you "know" to folks that have already served.....instead, why not just put the ideas out there without any horns and whistles.......the SC scene seems to be really hungry for ideas right now....which is a very good thing..

is when someone is trying to win a disagreement by using the old "if you haven't served, then ST-U " argumentWere you ever in the military, bc the ideas I was talking about came from a years worth of military training.

Savoy and stealth (before his comment was deleted) are right about this. If you ain't contracted or been to basic, then you ain't hot s*** quite yet. Where do you think the first place you're going to go if the army pulled you out of school right now to fight a war? They're going to deploy you right into basic training.
Re: Blue Hole - Op Guardian - June 18 2011
Acutally Savoy since you aparently know nothing about then Citadel I will set it straight. The army ROTC programs there are EXACTLY like West Point. I am required to serve when I graduat atleast 6 years. I HAVE signed my contract and there fore am in the military. I am going to airborne infantry and air assault school next summer and already have the papers saying so. If I were to leave school now they would immediately rotate me in as an enlisted member. If you'd like I could show you the contracting papers and the the pics of me swearing in with the head of the ROTC department at the Citadel. Oh and as far as the going through basic training thats pretty much what my first year at school was. We did everything except the firing range last year and you were only allowed to do if you were smp or contracted. So yes when it comes down to it I am in the military and no I was not trying to insult you. Luckily seeing as you are commenting on things you don't know about you did a good job of that yourself.
OH and if you don't believe any of this here is the Army department dirctors email bradym1@citadel.edu to let you know he is an activite duty Full bird Colonel.

Anyways... Blue Hole
The field is awesome and has so much potential, can't wait to play there again at an AOSC game.
Please by all means continue anymore pissing matches... in the pm's. I'm in NROTC and I'm not going around tooting my horn about it, let's all calm down 2 or 3 or 10 degrees.

^ Ditto. Conversations like this don't need to be public, unless you're an attention whore. Even then, they still don't need to clog up a thread like this.
