Operation Steel Griffin Convoy Post Game Chat

Post by marpat96 » Sun May 27, 2012 10:23 am

The game was very fun and very well organized. We (Alpha) had a very simple plan: Stop the convoy. We did this the entire day. Thanks to all our AT guys, including Bazooka Joe from Juggernaut, he got 8 kills I believe. Dom did a great job with all his AT, and our infantry completely stopped Bravo from advancing before lunch. After lunch, Bravo made a very good push, and the final battle at Alpha's respawn was great, got 4 kills. Great game, best I've been to, and thanks to all the SC Reps and Ninja for making it happen, along with Zoobie and Redemption giving me a free Cream Soda :), and to Ghost and Ninja for making a great night game scenario. My brother and I had a fun time being hunted by everyone.

Good things: Gameplay, new field, night game, lunch break, honorable hit calling (best I've ever seen), convoy itself, Airsoft Armory being there, and the fun times at the campground.

Things that need improvement: Nothing really, justs wished there were food vendors present, and maybe a port-a-pottie or two.

the game was fun other than the stupid golf cart that is invincible unless you have an AT weapon that only works when the planets are in alignment.

awesome game im glad i was a part of it. ninja did an awesome job as usual. it was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. thanks to dom for stepping in for garrett as co its always a privilege fighting with you. thanks to zoobie and mr marauder for stepping up to be our company commanders you guys were awesome as always. to alpha: you guys rocked it out there and held your own and gave bravo fits all day. this is one of the first games that didnt have the usual experience alpha teams and alpha still kicked butt. that say alot about the up and coming new generation of sc players. to bravo: hats off to you guys for making this a fun game and many many great battles. i want to especially give a shout out to mr miraski for the great job he did. his sole mission for us was to hunt the bravo co and xo the hole game and he did an excellent job which i knew he would. i have to admit that i almost left after lunch due to feeling sick and being exhausted from the heat but i stayed and had one of the funest times i have had in awhile. highlight for me was the 2 hour long battle with bravo down by the river, word cant say enough good job to both sides. i really wish i would have been able to stay for the night game but i was a walking zombie after the day and barely made it home. i have always wanted to play a nite game put on by team war but im sure there will be another in the future and i look forward to it

Had an alright time. Did what I could considering the conditions. Almost threw up near the end of the morning game and had to head back to the car early. Drank my weight in powerade then headed back out for the afternoon game. Spent about an hour and a half crawling through thorns and attempting to make shots through underbrush before finally getting in some decent combat near the river. After the way the game had been going for me all day, not to mention finding Wolfy stranded in the woods with severe heat exaustion, we decided to take our losses and call it a day.

Overall, wasn't what I was expecting, but still an interesting game. Having deuces and 5-tons roll around was cool, but they felt more like a hindrance to the pacing then a fun in-game asset. As far as the field goes, I lost more blood to the thorns and underbrush than I did to enemy fire.

Of course, it should go unsaid that I don't blame any of my misfortunes on the game itself. Many other players had a great time, and that's what is important.

To be clear, Ninja declared the game a stalemate, so neither team won. I think that's the best decision, because the game ended in a sort of limbo. The last base was captured by bravo with 7 minutes to go, with All of alpha hit, and all of them having to head back to their HQ to respawn, the fastest they would have been able to turn around might have been 15 mins if they sprinted both ways. The way the game ended, had it lasted longer, bravo would have claimed victory, but it didn't, so we landed in a stalemate due to time constraints.

Alpha, I'm flabbergasted. That is one of the best I've EVER seen alpha do at a game. Ever. You flat out sat bravo down the first half of the game, the ONLY reason the convoy made any progress is because you guys were nice enough to let them move a few feet before shooting them again. You showed up in force, with more than enough tools and equipment to stop the convoy over and over again. I lost count at how many times I had to stop the convoy from how many times they had been shot. You guys did fantastic. I can easily see how you dominated the first half of the game. The second half, I'm not so sure, the brush got thick and I was on top of the convoy for most of the time, I couldn't see alpha's movements very well. You guys did alright, but there weren't as many rockets aimed at the convoy after lunch. I'm not sure if that's just because of the thicker brush, or possibly because bravo concentrated their forces. Regardless, I've never seen a game that close, that it actually ended in a stalemate. Very, very well done guys.

Bravo, before lunch, you guys really didn't have your game together. You seemed spread out, far apart, and didn't have the punching power to really do anything about the guys with the RPGs. The convoy ended up moving right into the middle of alpha's clutches because alpha let them get that far. Them getting as far as they did had nothing to do with bravo. Another big fault I saw was that the tanks were never taken off the convoy before lunch, which is borderline humorous. The convoy sat next to the first drop point right at the start, and the second drop point, the convoy was next to it for a good 2 hours, and no one got the tanks out. The way the game was going before lunch, it appeared that the convoy wouldn't have even made it half way to the next drop point. However, whatever happened after lunch allowed the convoy to bullet it's way through to the last drop point, and they didn't get slowed down until the final stretch. Bravo did a good job about grouping up and clearing out alpha from the woods. They continued to push forward until they had cornered alpha against their respawn. At that point, it appeared that alpha lost their grip, and were no longer able to hold off bravo, they lost a bit of their ground and were never able to fall back and regain it. When I had come down to the alpha respawn, bravo's last objective, there were already a good many alpha sitting around, not quite ready for the mass that was moving down the path. If alpha had been a little bit better prepared then what they were, bravo wouldn't have been able to take the last base, and alpha would have been the victors. The way bravo moved, they were bottle necked at that path, the deuce and a halfs would have been able to make it through, but the people wouldn't have gotten far. Although, considering the fire power on alpha, I'm curious why all three of the deuce's weren't hit with rockets when they entered the last field.

This is just from an admin's perspective. The game was incredibly close, and Ninja did a fantastic job planning it. Had just a few things been different either way, and one team or the other might have won, but hindsight is 20/20, right? Both teams had great moments during the day, I was able to meet a lot of new people, see things I haven't seen before, learn new stuff. All in all, it was a good, interesting day for me.

Bravo had no infantry around the convoy before lunch, and what was there guarding the convoy, didn't have the numbers to hold off Alpha. I still can't believe how fun the game was.

Had a good time. Put names to faces and had plenty of laughs... To the MARPAT wearing fool who does NOT understand MEDs, thank you for the awesome bruises / welts / drawing blood. No complaints though! If you set high expectations you will always get disappointed. This game was great given the amount of people who showed up. There is plenty of room for improvement and I will gladly support Green Ninja in his future airsoft endeavors.

Before lunch: With the exception of a select few teams, all of bravo ignored the plan and abandoned the convoy while branching out in small groups and playing a normal game. That is to say, hunting other players anywhere they could find them but not following any specific route or plan. I was only present for about half of that due to heat issues and working on some peoples' guns, but I think that much is obvious to everyone.

After lunch: Due to much chewing out from Diesel and Jsts Ghost, ALL of bravo followed the general route of the main road, escorted the convoy (flank, advance, and rear guards) and barreled right through the disorganized resistance. I really don't feel that the Alpha players did such an astounding job, but that the Bravo players dropped the ball. I am not dissing Alpha, but pointing out that it was one of the unusual games where one team's players being disorganized could really hamper their progress since the scenario literally followed a road.

Being one of the few ladies there this weekend..that would have been great! But i know its mostly a guy sport so i am not complaining at all :) i had alot of fun and i know my team members did as well :) made a few new friends and saw some old ones too, Mojo did a great job with being the XO and Dom also did a great job for becoming the last minute CO and having a hop up system for TDV so he wasnt running around with his pistol all day! Can't forget Zoobie and Marurader's work either :) In the end, i think this was one of Ninjas best matches yet and can't wait to see what he has for us next! :)

Unfortunately I wasnt there for the afternoon portion of the game because of heat issues which seemed ever so common. However I do want to comment on the fact that alpha had fewer rockets after lunch then before...I do believe that alpha shot most of their rockets at the begining of the game and werent able to recover all of the launched rockets. I do know for a fact that Smitty picked up one or two of said launched rockets, put them in his launcher, and used them against alphas tanks. If it was intentional or not I think that alphas shortage of rocket attacks could have been due to lack of nerf munitions

Apart from those things I had a pretty good time. At one point my dad led 5 people around and surprised attacked alpha and at one point had about 30 alpha and a tank trying to get us. Sadly my gun conked out on me after lunch and I went in light with just a pistol and a tee-shirt and mostly mediced people and found and gave rockets to the AT people but got a few kills.

No one ever said there were going to be 700 people. That's just how many would be allowed. Blame people who didn't pre register for the lack of apcs. Ninja couldn't know what he could afford to rent if he didn't know how many people would be there. Also, those were deuce and a half trucks. Half tracks have bulldozer style tracks in the back instead of wheels.

We had an awesome time. The tanks gave us trouble at first but we eventually pushed through and darn near won the thing. Huge props to ninja and the command staffs on both sides as well as all of the players. Now let's put some good reviews on some national forums so next year even more people will show up!
