Blackwater 3: Defection
I will be posting my full thoughts in the next day or so. For now, I'll just say that while I enjoyed admining the game, I would have preferred more had shown up.
The scenario was designed for at least double of what showed up.
All in all though, I believe the general consensus is everyone had a decent time.

Re: Blackwater 3: Defection
I lost count of the number of green and tan players I shot who had no dead rags. I came up on guy in woods with his back to me. I shot him twice in the torso, so he flips out and says he's already dead but people keep shooting him. Had no dead rag, didn't even indicate that he was dead in any way like having his hands up. Same thing happened many times across the field.
HOW HARD IS IT TO HAVE A DEAD RAG? Apparently 30-50% of the players were either A. idiots, B. lazy, or C... both. It's one thing to lose your dead rag in the field and have to make do with holding your hands up, but its another thing entirely to deliberately not carry one. I killed a squad of players, none of whom pulled out dead rags or called hit, so I kept shooting. When they got pissed at me, I said I wouldn't stop shooting till I saw hands go up, heard "HIT", or saw a dead rag. They countered by saying that they didn't carry dead rags.
Really? It's in every single safety briefing, plastered across the forums, and generally common knowledge everywhere. Retards gonna retard, I guess.

Great work by all Delta Forces.
We're used to being outnumbered, and we came in strong. It would have been great if more showed up, but the folks that were there were good players and made for great firefights.

Regarding dead rags, maybe showing a dead rag at the chronograph station should be a requirement in order to have your gun chrono'd.

Re: Blackwater 3: Defection
well i have to say that i was disappointed in the turn out for this game. it would have been alot better had there been more players but with that said i really enjoyed watching everybody play. all 3 co's did a fabulous job. the blackwater co really played his part well. at the beginning of the game when i found out that he sold the intel to both factions i was blown away. then in the middle of the game when bravo was about to win he captured the defector from them then released him in the middle of the field. again i was blown away at his cunningness. the bravo co then paid blackwater to take a lunch break and leave the field which i thought was pretty awesome also. Mr marauder did an excellent job writing the scenario and admining the game. maybe the next blackwater game will be during the winter and there will be a better turnout.

Was a short game. It was alright. Of course, Blackwater made the game worth it.

As for the game, I had a lot of fun being the liaison for Bravo during the morning. Even though I lost them for a little while, I just happened to stumble back on them, turns out, his group and himself were lost as well.
I had a few radio issues, found out the back corner of the field is a dead zone to the rest of the field, not sure why, but I never heard, nor could raise anyone when I was back there. Also hearing firefights between bravo and blackwater was amusing, knowing both sides of the fight. Also hearing the little differences between bravo and alpha, how different deals went down, it was a lot of fun having access to all that info.
After that, I only ended up playing for half an hour or so before we were paid to leave the field (which was a brilliant maneuver). Had a very strange issue with my hop up, lol, something I had not expected, but, that's what happens when you experiment. Live and learn.
Props to Ghost, he's a much cooler guy than I had expected. Ghost, I'd be happy to run under or beside you any day.
Smitty did a great job leading Bravo, as well as he could given Bravo's lack of radio contact.
Alpha, well, Cleric did alpha stuff. Good job guys, being alpha players and ... alpha. ( I had almost no contact with alpha all day long, lol)

Re: Blackwater 3: Defection
Have to say, I was fairly dissapointed. Game play was short. Low turnout. Everyone left. Pace was pretty slow on my end. The other thing is: when we say we're having a pickup game at 5, it should start at 5, not 6. It's not too difficult.
Didn't get too much good footage, will post what I got. (I was the guy with the GoPro on his head
)
Best firefight was with Dom and the little dude in the green building firing on Alpha's base at the end of the day game. Unfortunalely my camera shut off shortly before I moved to the building. Apparently it has less battery life than I thought. Did we get anyone there?
To the dude who shot me when I was sitting on the ground, gun in the grass a couple feet away, legs splayed out, hands in my lap, with a tan tee shirt on, obviously bravo and on your team, WHY? And I had already bled ALLL over my dead rag (nosebleed,) so that's why I didn't have one.
SVDsniper, now frost I believe, thanks for helping me out when I was dehydrated.
Lesson learned, hydrate before the game, and summer airsoft is WAY too hot.

Re: Blackwater 3: Defection
Enjoyed the game as i always do. Low turn out was a bummer but a great scenario. I agree with the statement earlier about the lack of dead rags. Lack of coms among players wasn't great either. I did have fun though. I had more encounters and skirmishes with the pick up game. Met alot a great ppl. Thought blackwater did an excellent job as for alpha I actually didn't see them too much lol.
To Smitty excellent job
To Ghost great job as blackwater Co
To alpha Co I'm sure u did good never even saw u though.
To Romba I was just glad I was there to help u man dehydration in SC is no joke.

Haha well I wasn't the one who shot you, but I was with the guy who did. I can understand why he shot you it was sort of hard to see at night hahaRomba wrote:

Re: Blackwater 3: Defection
In overview, this was a great game design. To have money being the motive, and points system for the game, was a good way to have a running tally for each of the team to maintain.
The chance to command the Blackwater team was an honor. I was concerned at first for the players that I would get, but with the help of Diesel, I had a team within 24 hours.
They all are a great group to run along side of. There was not a single person that I would not have on the same sided team, in the future.
Alpha, lead by Cleric, did keep up on their toes, when we (Blackwater) was around. I was impressed with the organization of their raids. They need to start thinking of working in more tightly grouped team.
By the way, Cleric shorted my team $300,000 for the intel layaway program for the first main mission. And for the capture of two respawn in their name. But hey, it was just over quarter of a million dollars.
Bravo, lead by Smitty, did use us like the village bicycle. We took all the respawn locations that were ours to take. But after the mis-communication of the rules incident, Bravo was hunted down and did a great job of holding us off. But we did manage to get the defector from them and releasing him in to the field.
Money was to be earned by any means, necessary. I followed that meaning to mean, you can do anything as long as it does not conflict with AOSC game rules, or the posted/spoken rule of this event.
With that saying, under contract, I could only assign up to 6 Blackwater players to complete a contract. But guess what, I could have others free roam with those contracted players. In many of the non-contract times, we moved as a team. But during the times that we was under contract, we would have support Blackwater players trailing or leading the “contracted” Blackwater members.
Good:
1: Setup of the game and start of the game.
I love the idea of having a team that can be bought to help in completion of missions or side mission. That is a game changer.
2: The use of my communication officers.
I did know that it would be hard to have enough radios out to help in communicating with Blackwater, so I made officers to relay information without tying up radios.
3: Player base was a good blend of new and seasoned airsofter.
It is good to see new faces out on the field. Hoping to get the bug in their system will ensure a future for this hobby. And seeing old faces, though new to me, is good for the others to see this hobby is not dying.
Those players and members of the AOSC, that could make it, did a great job in having fun for themselves as well as for others around them. It is great to not hear verbal assault on the field, but laughing and joking with each other.
Need Improvement:
1: Mags in the safe zones.
This is not changing, because no accidents have yet to happen. And people do not feel that they will have it happen. Just wait.
2: Radios.
It will help everyone to go and buy a radio for your self. You may not need to talk on one, but with everyone trying to run solo, you will get information that will help you so much more. A radio is needed if you go off on your own, or with a small team. This will help your commander to relay information and work on the attack plans with many teams.
You will spend money on red dots, lasers, and other items that will help your game play, but will not by a radio that will help you know what is going on. It will help you on larger and more complex games in the future.
3: Dead Rags.
We came across, more than 8 times, of the players that we were attacking did not have a dead rag. They complained that they got overshot, with trees and brush blocking most view, after they had their hands up. Well this would have happened less with a bight colored dead rag. Get a red bandana from Wally world. Get a string and tie it to your vest, so the bandana does not fall out. Walla! You will have a dead rag that will stay with you at all times.
In conclusion, I did have a great time. It was fantastic to finally meet the famous Gold Team. From all that I have heard, you did have fun, laughed greatly, but when time to work, it was all work. Ajax has always been a pleasure to have next to me and down range as well. The three NC players that Diesel sent to me, my hat is very much off to you. Irish had a cracked rib, from a month ago, and was still moving well with us.
Game was great. Weather was humid, warm, and beautiful. Field had great blend of open and woods.

Look no one bailed on me. I knew that Blackwater personal would only be there for the day portion. With the less of turn out, it was all good. I left just two hours after you all did, so I could get home. It was just as far to drive as the time that we did play. But it was good and cannot wait for future games with all of you.

Re: Blackwater 3: Defection
So I go a whole week at summer camp without bug spray and I get like five mosquito bites, but in less than 4 hours during dinner break yesterday before putting on bug spray I get 67 mosquito bites. Itching right now. And then my mom is like "you know west Nile is big right now."
So if you don't hear from me or see my game video within a couple days, I've got west Nile.
