I would probably be more into a modern version. I don't have any cold war stuff.

I've started collecting gear for this OP thinking it would take a few years to complete. It's surprisingly cheap (for what I thought it would set me back), especially if you get in on the group-buys on the forums (there is one going on as I speak) and go to places like this, where I got an unissued ALICE pack with frame and ALICE harness with pouches. I'm pretty sure I can get the rest of the stuff on the list and push 200-250 total in expenses. IMHO I'm going to use the gear as my main loadout so I can get the most out my money.
