Re: Streets of Mogadishu
I had fun as usual. I have been playing at the Swamp for a year and actually had a skirmish in the southernmost corner for the first time. I can't wait for more AOSC games here.
My biggest complaint was that the one hour lunch seemed to run almost 1.75 hours, and the game seemed to have started a little late. I should be used to airsoft time after five years playing, LOL.
I would like to thank everyone who drove a long distance, especially the ones from Spartanburg/Greenville. Trust me, I know what that long ride home at night feels like.

Yep That was me you hit. Thats what was great about the police. If you didnt check your foreground and background for targets it happens. But you put up a great fight! Good job!

Some one thought you were alpha from a distance and shot. Another moment I had was when I shot a policeman, but didn't know who it was. All of a sudden we (me and a sniper) saw 5 others show up around him. We looked down our scopes and saw they were policeman, and ran like hell away. LOL

Ok here is my AAR- first the the field. In my opinion this is one of the top fields in the state. If not the best at least a close second. It has everything from , buildings, to the landscape, to the fact that it is constantly being upgraded and changing. Never the same place. All of of this is because of the leadership and drive of RNzilla. If you have never been there you are missing a great field . It is only a 1.5 hr drive from the Columbia area.
Game play- I can honestly say this was one of the best games , as far as hit calling. Not even a issue. I wish more games were like this . Hats off to the Swamp staff for taking their next gen , Tactical 10yr olds, and training them in how to play honorably.
Game scenario - who ever came up withis should be drop kicked on the face ! Lol. The police did exactly what they were supposed to in keeping the game flow smooth and not Lopsided . If they had not, it would have been over very quickly. I understand how they were given a lot of power BUT , they never abused that power, in the fact of shooting people for no apparent reason. When they did fire on people it was only in retaliation of being shot at or for shooting villagers , which I wish we had more of. And sometimes just to keep things interesting . But this was also one of the first time a 3rd party faction was used and a lot of people did not get butt hurt. when ever they did get involved , it was not a game changing situation. Both teams - alpha and bravo earned everything they got. Kudos to all who played.
In all it was a great day for Airsoft and fellowship !

To be frank, I was very surprised at how smoothly the entire day went. There were almost no problems at all. The field was great, the players followed the rules (even the young kids seemed remarkably mature as airsofters), the game mechanics functioned well, the field staff cooperated very amiably, the police did their job as a balancer force, and despite the confusion due to no one knowing the field, both factions fought voraciously and made many gains here and there. Alpha ultimately held the objectives during most of the game, I would have to say they "won" in my opinion. However, Bravo did hold them out of the village indefinitely.
BTW, friendly fire does count. As long as whoever shot you is in play, you are hit. Sometimes in airsoft, since no one actually dies, it is better to shoot first if you aren't sure who is who and are in a serious crunch. The best option, however, is to ID your targets like you're supposed to.
The entire day I was a villager, I had no suicide bomb rigged up, but I was armed. Initially I intended to provide an oversite role, to roam around and make sure everything was going well. After a while, since there were no issues needing to be addressed, I started getting more involved with the villager role I was playing. I basically went back and forth wandering around the field amidst both factions looking for my goats. Well, they were really my sister's goats, but I was trying to find them for her. Unfortunately, no one was able to tell me where my goats were. I did gain water and other good American drinks, an American powdered donut cake, a patch with some English words sewn on it, and several other goodies in exchange for information I had gathered (this information just so happened to be tailored to drive gameplay forward and favored the faction without possession of the objectives, usually Bravo). Later on I encountered some Americans that had nothing good to trade, so I engaged them in my country's native dance. If they completed the dance succesfully, I gave them the information (basically I needed an excuse to give them the information so they would know where they needed to direct their efforts, for game mechanics' sake). One of the green colored warriors stabbed me for some reason, so the police killed them all. I had thought he was my friend. Later on in the day I went hostile for about 5 minutes, when there was a stubborn pocket of green warriors along the river resisting the advance of the tan warriors. I knew the tan warriors needed to get past them quickly, or the pilot with the green warriors would be very far along soon, so I helped the tan warriors be rid of them quickly. After that I returned to my search for the goats until towards the very end, when the green warriors attacked the village of my sister. I fought to defend it with the tan warriors.
I look forward to playing many more games at the Swamp, I really enjoyed it and I appreciate the hospitality of Ron, the rest of the staff, and their regulars.
