6mm Militia/ Table Rock Raiders Basic Training I Nov 7th AAR

Post by 82dcustomer » Sun Nov 07, 2010 5:57 pm

I would first of like to thank TRR for their hospitality in letting us use your field to conduct training on.  These guys are top notch and have a willingness to train, learn, and help motivate others during training.

We started off with an introduction of instructors and an outline of what we were going to accomplish.

To get the blood flowing and the mind receptive to learning we started off with an Otter custom built obstacle course.  It had tires, barb wire pits, creek jump, balance beams, low walls, more balance beams over water, and a sprint.  Good job to all of the guys who came in under a minute on the fun course.  Hopefully we will be doing more of it and we got some good video of each obstacle as each person went through it.  Table Rock Raiders had the fastest time and then Diesel (Tape Worm) came in a close second and the fastest time for 6mm militia.

We then moved to a reflexive fire drill while under stress of explosions.  Two people were put behind a plywood wall and peeled out from both sides and advanced to a shorter wall for cover.  While moving they were to detect three red balloons, engage them and not engage the white balloons.  All of this was done while some minor noise makers were going off.  Luckily only one team was ejected from the course for killing a white balloon.  He also had a c mag.  I am starting to see a correlation between shoot everything that moves and high capacity magazines lol.

We then moved to the firing range where everyone engaged 5 targets twice each from both the prone and kneeling.  The targets were placed at 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 ft.  Congratulations to Deathby King for tearing up the course shooting 15/20.  The rest of us need to hit the range a little more.

We then ran out of video camera battery and took a tv timeout to go over some comms stuff.  This is boring class room sit down type things, but it is essential.  Comms sucking is the number one complaint at an Airsoft event other than call your hit!

Then we quickly went over buddy team 3-5 second rushes and jumped right into fire team formations.  Fire teams were already pre selected since this was a training day for two teams instead of the open public so this gave everyone a good chance to see their role in a formation.  We went over wedge, diamond, file, staggered column, and the hand signals for each.  Then we put all three fire teams together and did a patrol through an open field transforming through the different formations until we hit a road and then did a staggered column on each side of the road.

After all this it was time to unwind a bit and break into some land mine training.  We spent the next half hour or so and played with all the landmines that S- Thunder has to offer.  The water mine was undoubted the best one out there with the large powder mine coming in second.  We also had a great time loading up all the different S-Thunder grenade shells and shooting them out of the pistol launchers at Braz.  After getting shot at our newest member figured out an ingenious way of firing the Nerf rockets out of the launcher and was getting about 100 feet out of it.

We then handed out some promotions that our guys have earned and called it a day.  I hope to see everyone at Basic Training II in the near future.  Thanks again TRR for the opportunity to train with you and keep up the high motivation!

Wish I could have made it, but I'll have to shoot for #2. Looking forward to seeing those mines.

I am already figuring the finances to get me some of those water mines. They will ruin some peoples day for sure, especially if it is cold.I did have a good time and looking forward to basic training 1.5

If you want to buy some I recommend On Target Airsoft out of Marietta GA.  They are the S Thunder distributors.
