OP: SOCO

Post by specter » Sat Mar 10, 2012 7:21 pm

i had to leave at 4 since everyone seemed to be chilling out before the night game or something. it pissed me off having to pay $20 and only get 3ish hours of playing but whatever. i was hoping to see more vendors at the game but there weren't any, so that was another letdown. the feild was mostly just scrub brush and overall not that great. all of this combined made my day kinda shoddy. thanks to mojo for setting it up though. he did a good job.

Yeah, I had to leave just before the day game ended to go to a extended family thing but It was pretty fun me and about 4 others snuck around and blew base 1 within the first 30 minutes and were keeping alot of people occupied and killing a lot of people eventually we got over run because we were out of amo then walked back to respawn then got attacked from behind and the side but we repelled them both and charged on to take the smaller then bigger city and was holding it when I got the ordered to go. Fun game over all but the one complaint I had is we started to late.

I hope this game helps sc guys to apprieciate our events because in ga its completely different.

Even the few Georgia guys on our side will tell you the truth about the differences which i discussed with quite a few georgia and sc guys that have attended events in both states.
1. Honor
2. Scheduling and rules
3. Organization of both the event and game dynamics
4. Game design and mechanics
5. General understanding how to host events for EVERYONE to have a fun time, not bend rules for certain guys, or have the game setup so the headquarters and respawns are unfair. What a surprise ga had a castle on a hilltop and we have crap pit in a valley surrounded by high positions. The sc camp area was on the back of the field for sc, unlike the ga guys who had camp at the front top which is waaay more convient. Luckily we were close the broad river which was mOre fun to hangOut at than playing.

Overall i have played many places for quite some time, this was the most dishonorable group i have EVER seen. There were some good ga guys on our side and they can tell u the same. It was a fun weekend chatting n such but the dishonor, game design, and poor event Planning made me leave early to avoid wasting my entire weekend.

Extra:
Everyone has battle stories from events so heres one that explains my frustration.
Ga attacked our base and was leaving out about 6 strong. I was floating about the field killing strays on the rOad when i saw the attack. I ran to a solid position and picked my target order. As they left the squad split in two. I shot the first guys dead center chest rig, no death. Two other ran past my position as i cocked my bolt back to shot target two, he ran approx 120 ft in front of my position where i let loose another .40 gram bb to the side of his head. It hit him he rolled about 7 or 8 feet, got back up and continued to run. I then proceeded to safety my gun and pack my crap because at that point it was enough. I was satisfiying to watch him eat dirt but soo frustrating to not be acknowleged for an awesome shot, not even a death! Stuck n zoobie did good commanding and hats off to them for enduring the bs.

Now i cant wait for our next game on the 24th so i can shoot people that actually die from bullets.

Overall, I had a good time. Good game, good field. My biggest complaint was that we started an hour and a half late and called it an hour early for dinner. Lost an hour and a half of the time I payed for... I don't care if they outnumbered us 3:1 we should have just kept playing. More targets to shoot at. And this isn't just an isolated thing. I know this wasn't our game, but I think we need to learn from this. Pro rate it. The people who come late (and cause the problems and late starting time) should be charged extra to deter lateness. Regardless, we need to start on time, and learn from this.

And as addressed at dinner break by the numerous complaints, there was a TON of "dishonor" or "unsportsmanlike conduct" by the other side. I haven't played NEARLY as many games as most people on here, but that was probably the most dishonorable group I've ever had the misfortune to play with. Even the Georgians who played for us said it was bad. I mean, you always have noncalls, but I seemed to see a LOT more than usual. It seemed you had to LIGHT PEOPLE UP to get a call, and then yell at them to call it. I just love shooting people, watching them recoil from where you can visibly see the hit, and not call it. Also people would get shot and just go respawn instantly rather than bleeding out. And I didn't see it myself, but Georgians SITTING IN FRONT OF OUR TANKS?!?! I would have knocked them over, or gotten out and beaten them until they got up.

Also, our HQ was a little pit with hills around, perfect to attack and hell to defend. Georgia had a hilltop fortress to rain plastic down from. I don't know how to fix that, but that sucked. Not to mention it was a good mile from parking.

I loved our big push for the city, that was awesome. Kind of role-reversal with Georgia, as they pinned us at our HQ last year. We managed to stick em there even though they had a fortress.

PROS:
Liked the field
Had a good time
Shot lots of Georgians
Liked the concept of the "helo drops," we should try it some game.
Liked all the props.
I liked the concept of medics with the tape. That was cool and much more realistic than OH DAWG lemme touch you and you'll be magically healed! And the limited medics.

Cons:
Lost two and a half hours, I almost asked for a refund....
Dishonor was just AWFUL, the people even stole stuff. I haven't even unpacked my trunk to make sure I have everything.
Unfair HQs
SUPER COMPLICATED RULES.
There were more, but I forget,

Mojo and Zoobie, you guys were great.
Unfortunately, I think the bad outweighed the good on this one.

i heard 143. yeah, i lit up a guy and basically put 150 shots into him and he didn't even call his hits. i was really wanting to shoot him with my rocket launcher and see him not call that. still, I don't want to cause and internal bleeding so i just threw a pinecone at him. he called it after i hit him in the face with it.

How about the guy with the red beret on his head? He claimed it "didn't look anything like a deadrag" when we asked him to take it off.

Our SAW gunner used three large batteries and shot 17,000 rounds on the Saturday day game and only four people called their hits. Yes, there were honorable players on the Ga team, but there were also a bunch of dishonorable players who simply would not call their hits, among other rule violations, some of which occurred in front of admins and still wet unpunished.

I think Tak did a good job in planning the scenario and objectives for the game and I particularly liked the night scenario (no surprise there, I'm a night game junky.) However, the kind of blatant disregard for rules that I witnessed ruined the game for me.

And as far as people saying that we got stuck with the bad base, I believe that as the visiting CO the choice was given to Mojo as to which base SC would have.

;D ;D ok i had an awesome time this weekend. yes there was some negative stuff but things happen. i want to say first and foremost that im really proud of all the sc players that showed up to support our state and how well those players conducted themselves. there were people out there (who im going to leave nameless) that thought sc players would not show up in forse and sc responded and made them eat their words, great job sc. i want to thank the aosc reps that showed up to support me it really meant alot. i especially want to thank all of the command staff you all were awesome and a big help. ghoust was a big help to me especially and i want to say that you made a new friend jammie. kudos to my xo zobbie who was amasing and did an awesome job which i knew he would be that is why i picked him. you were my eyes and ears on the field and had alot of responsibility on your shoulder and you came through with flying colors. mr mararader did an excellent job with the little time he had to plan and i had fun with you hanging out on sunday. i personally want to thank zmonster one of the ga players that helped me out, it was a pleasure and honor and i look forward to seeing and playing with you in the future. big thanks to all the ga teams and players that played for us: untied front(its always an honor playing with yall) rock5 and a few others that i cant remember their names and of course the benning and oda teams ( i cant wait to get down to yalls fort benning game) i also want to give a big shout out to wolfy who patiently and diligently took charge of base security for me although she let a big 5 foot rat snake sneak into the hq and scare the crap out of me ;D ;D. and i want to thank all of the sc teams and players that came out. it was an honor and privilege being your commander. i do want to thank airdog for putting this game on and working with sc. they did a good job admining and was always there on the radio. on with my pros and cons.

pros:
1. great objectives and storyline made the game interesting and keep me on my toes. i especially loved the federal agent aspect
2. great facilities at the field ie camping area and cabins
3. awesome attitudes from sc players
4. overall great attitude from the ga commander

cons:
1. alot of breaking rules and bad sportsmanship from ga players. ( i do want to iterate here that it was not all, there were some great ga players that made it fun for me)
2. sc not included in the planning of the game but i still had a blast
3. and this is a big one for me that i will expand on: sc players leaving the field during game for dinner or just chillin in campsite without telling anyone. this cause a major issue and allowed ga to score point and catch up with us. example: around 430 i saw ga pushing closer and closer to us and didnt see players on the field. i was able to do a count and there were only 45 sc players on field to 140 or 150 from ga which allowed ga to push to our hq and blow it and steal back some objectives. this is why the game was called early on saturday. let me say that players need to come prepared for a game like this. it was clearly stated in the game thread that the game was from 10 to 6 with no break. you guys should have brought food with you to carry on the field so you dont leave your team short handed. i will admit that i wasnt the best prepare for this and learned from this experience so that this doesnt happen again the next time im a co at a big event

For me this game was a little off and harder, on account of the broken toe. I was put in charge of base security, and I was willing to accept, and happy to help. However, after I had briefed the men to help me, planned for the ones with radios, told them what i needed, where i needed them, etc, they got taken and I was left with only one man, two kids ( who built sandcastles with their mags when they got bored) and mojo, who as a CO needed more cover than that. People coming back to respawn were really taking their time respawning and were half listening when they were ordered to join up or help. We did lose the base while I was on duty, however, I really feel if I'd of had better communication for men to stay behind for 1 hour shifts, it might have been different. We got word of about FOUR ga guys heading our way. Not a minuter later, at least SIX or EIGHT guys came running in and shot the only guy I had, then the kids. I shot one who then got healed by the medic they had with them, and then I shot another, who didn't call their hit, and promptly stood up, and shot me. Luckily, Foxx was sent down to help and was able to keep their attention long enough for some more guys and the tank to get the rest of them from the other side. Dinner was called without any announcement, which IronFox wasn't aware of until AFTER hiking through the back of the map and walking directly into ga HQ with no one there. The night game was called early due to safety reasons is what I'm hearing. Trig's safety glasses are cracked on one lense from people under their med. So all in all, I personally wasn't too happy with the way the game played out, although I appreciate stuckmojo for trusting me with the job, and for everyone who was doing their job. Had we had even HQ's and ga called their hits, the outcome would have been much different. Great job SC.
