I had a great time. My only complaint was the uneven balance, I had to pack very light because I brought two people and a ton of stuff in a Prius, so I didn't have a change of clothes like I normally carry. I guarantee I'll be running Alpha or balancer at PBC henceforth though.

Please do. We've been to PBC 2 times now, both times Alpha has ended up locked in their spawn. There are ample reasons as to why this is, mainly due to Bravo simply outplaying Alpha, but there are a few things that really could have been helped.

#1. Team balancing. Friends want to be on the same team as friends. I'm no exception. I'm not suggesting splitting teammates or wearing armbands but the disparity between the teams is quite noticeable. What I would suggest is exactly what you said in your response. That the playing admins roll Alpha if possible. The game outcomes at fields like Redfox where admin's roll Alpha have generally been more competitive in my experience.

#2. Spawn locations. PBC falls victim to many of the same things all paintball fields used in respawn airsoft matches do. Most paintball fields are designed for elimination type scenarios. Making respawn airsoft matches difficult due to the deadbox area not generally being used as a respawn. It's not fortified, hidden, etc, making most respawns in plain view or allowing a complete lockdown of all players exiting. In this scenario, the general "pull deadrag off your head and shoot everything" approach just doesn't work well here. Each match we played turned into one team looking into the other's spawn. Two things here:

*At that point, the game is essentially over. Either reset or have objectives that are completed when the other team is obviously overwhelmed. The best games are those that remain competitive. Or...

*Allow a struggling Alpha team multiple respawns. Single-handedly best balancing tactic used all afternoon. Once one objective was overrun, we could simply spawn elsewhere. Since we didn't respawn under fire, we could easily insert back into the game and also added an element of suprise for Bravo, since we had multiple places to re-enter. Later in the round, that meant inserting behind enemy lines. Cool idea.

#3. Whoever keeps calling "game over" mid-round please stop. Some of the sportsmanship issues that came up on the field were directly related to this. Alpha was told twice by a Bravo player that the game was over when it was not. When an actual game was called Alpha didn't want to be "fooled" again, only further complicating the issue.

All in all, a good day of airsoft. Had fun chatting Ghost up after the majority of Alpha took an early lunch and weather was beautiful.

^Ditto.

It should go without saying that players should never be decreeing of their own accord that a game is over, but I suppose that's too much to ask from some people :/.

I think alpha would have had a better time if they were better coordinated. The first set of games attacking the wood castle, we cleared alpha, who were supposed to be attacking, from the metal castle in the back of the area. There was no reason to be back there, about as far from the objective as you could get, in a defensive position. They were supposed to be attacking.

The only reason Alpha stopped advancing at the metal fortification is because Bravo was also attacking it.. Wasn't Bravo supposed to be defending the Castle? :)

He who controls the metal castle controls that entire flank, and once past the corner of that net can flank wide onto our rear and fire into our respawn, ergo control of the metal castle is the first step to the easiest way to take the wooden one. Ergo, we took the metal castle and secured our vulnerable flank and rear.
