Upgrading a CYMA G18c AEP

Post by Star_folder » Wed Feb 23, 2011 10:54 pm

Most of my friends are starting to get gbbs, not that it's really a problem, but I'd like my G18 to preform a little better. It currently chronos at 180fps with .2s. I'm planning on getting the nineball power spring for it, but I'm wondering if there are any other upgrades I should purchase for the gun while I'm getting the spring, if there are any other things I need to buy for the gearbox.

Through research I've found that the idea behind upgrading AEPs is to create very good airseals, so that you get as much fps as possible, I was planning on getting a new cylinder and piston, I figured I could just wrap the stock cylinder head in teflon if it doesn't seal well. Should I get a new air nozzle for the pistol?

I've also heard people claim to get 100ft shots fairly consistantly with their AEPs, but mine is hitting the ground at 50ft, with the hop all the way up, using .25s. I don't use .2s because they aren't as accurate as the .25s, even though they have more range, would that be my problem? Anyway, I was planning on purchasing a new soft firefly bucking when I got my spring anyway.

Are there any other upgrades I should get for my gun while I have it open and am buying stuff?

Well, buy a TM or overhaul the one you have with nineball parts and either a TM or firefly bucking. Also, get a LiPo for it.

My stock, 4 year old TM G18C easily pulls off 100' shots. It isn't fairly consistent, it's absolutely consistent (assuming I'm using good ammo). I would attribute your 50' shots to the fact that it's CYMA and has an inferior hopup.

The gearboxes are fairly solid on the CYMAs, but I'd be worried about the piston if you put in a stronger spring. I'd personally start with just a new bucking and checking the compression throughout the gearbox.

I don't quite feel like dishing out the money to get the TM, I'd really rather save a few bucks and just upgrade the gun I already have. I was planning on getting a firefly bucking when I placed my order.
