DMR Build Nothing New....
DMR Build Nothing New....
Alright so I am doing a DMR build which seems to be the popular thing these days...I'm doing to satisfy my favoring the occasional long distance engagement. I am using a JG M16A4 as my base here is the link --->http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=3629
I know it is not the best thing in the world but hey we all gotta start somewhere. Anyway, for this build I would like to start off by getting a 6.03 mm TBB, a new bucking and/or entire new hop up depending on which will be more cost effective and efficient, and m130 spring since I'm looking for about 390 to 420 fps with a .25g. Any suggestions on parts would be great! Also any pertinent tech advice would also be nice!

Re: DMR Build Nothing New....
More likely than not, this gun will already have an M130 in it, and the hop up is two pieces I believe, which isn't upgradeable unless you get yourself a metal body.
That being said, the first thing I would upgrade would be the hop up bucking. The chamber is merely there to hold everything in place, and apply consistent hop. And if it doesn't do one or the other, it's not hard to make it do so. The barrel is the last thing I would upgrade, simply because it has the least effect on your accuracy.
As for buckings, there is always the flat hop, and the PDI W-Hold bucking is pretty nice as well.

Re: DMR Build Nothing New....
Yeah i know the barrel is probably the last thing but upgraded but the current barrel is jammed with a bb and the nub or piece of the bucking so it is effectively stuffed xD I have tried everything and broken 3 unjamming rods so i decided it would be easier to just go ahead an upgrade now. As far as a metal body, i did forget to mention that i will be getting one of those as well. The plastic upper receiver has already split so Im just going to replace the whole body. As for the spring im not sure what is currently in there, but i thought it was an M120 but i could always be wrong

Re: DMR Build Nothing New....
Oh, I thought you were buying the gun new. When is the last time you chromed it? It may still have an m130 in there, but if it doesn't, the gun can still easily handle an m130.
And, since you are getting the metal body, you will need a new one piece hop up chamber, I suggest the King Arms hop up chamber, but any metal chamber will work.
As for barrels, I suggest a Prometheus 6.03 509mm barrel, it's nice solid stainless steel and is one of the highest quality barrels on the market.

Re: DMR Build Nothing New....
I've never had it chronoed. I got it in a trade with a friend. It worked great he dropped it and since then it has not worked. As for the hop up thanks for the suggestion and the Prometheus barrel you mentioned is one I have been eyeing. I have heard lots of good things about them.

Re: DMR Build Nothing New....
Like Star said, focus first on your bucking and hop-up chamber, then your spring, and finally your barrel. The complications come from the middle of the lot. An M130'll hardly make a DMR at 450 fps with .2s... Why not shoot for an M150 which I believes provides, what, 500-540 fps? If you had the money, you could get a M150, upgrade to some high torque Prometheus gears, a high torque motor, which Star can help you on, some metal bushings, and a breaking mosfet wouldn't hurt. Steevo's selling homemade ones if you don't know. I don't know what battery your running, but that's something to consider.
To be honest, your better off just buying a KWA SR12 and dropping an M150 in it. ~$420. I've got a JG M416. After all of those upgrades, you'd be better off with the KWA. I've weighed all the options. I'm actually trying to sell my JG to put towards the KWA. And yes, the KWA can handle the M150 spring with stock gears. Just don't run it on full auto or your asking for it. Weigh up and evaluate your options and tell me what you decide.

Re: DMR Build Nothing New....
I have, in the m14, a Prometheus M150, element 300% tune up kit (gears and piston), and a new wire job. My hopup is one of Korys and i believe my chamber is stock metal. This is my DMR. 130 will put you right at about the 380-390 or so, 150 has me at 430ish
Barrel hasnt been upgraded, though it could use it, motor is slow needs a new one, and my battery is getting replaced as we speak.
When you start your DMR, there will be no end. I suggest doing what I did on a reliable gun you like to hold.

Re: DMR Build Nothing New....
See, I would get a JG before I got a KWA, believe it or not, but JGs can handle m150 s better than KWAs can, mostly because the motors in JG guns are a little tougher than the ones found in KWA guns. Also, IMO, any sort of torque gear set is a waste of money, between the motor and batteries that was have access to, we can provide more than enough torque with standard ration gears to pull any spring.
Re: DMR Build Nothing New....
Yep, an M130 is not a DMR unless it's in a PGC or something like that. This isn't a DMR build, good news is you can pretty much drop the spring in.Wrath wrote:An M130'll hardly make a DMR at 450 fps with .2s...
Why would you spend that much on a gear set?Wrath wrote:upgrade to some high torque Prometheus gears
No, he's not.Wrath wrote:To be honest, your better off just buying a KWA SR12 and dropping an M150 in it.
Are you sure? It aught to be higher...Felix wrote:150 has me at 430ish

Here I disagree. I'm not saying this way is wrong, but I personally prefer not to have to make the wiring, battery, or motor work so hard. Hence, I would rather buy a gear set with a higher torque ratio so that the electrical system isn't particularly taxed. Also, a high quality high torque gear set is close enough in price to warrant just getting one. However, getting the spring pulled can be done either way, so I'm not saying Kory's way is wrong, just different from my own. As far as this build is concerned, there's no need for more torque in any case.Star_folder wrote:Also, IMO, any sort of torque gear set is a waste of money, between the motor and batteries that was have access to, we can provide more than enough torque with standard ration gears to pull any spring.

So much of it's about preference, that's why there's differences in our answers. Sorry if we're confusing you Hotspur93.

Nope. 300%s on a stock G&G motor with a Prom-150 shooting 435-438ishDominum wrote:Are you sure? It aught to be higher...Felix wrote:150 has me at 430ish

Re: DMR Build Nothing New....
The gear set and motor have nothing to do with the FPS Felix
. Is that ~435 with a .25?

Re: DMR Build Nothing New....
Alright well my build is going well ill try to put up some pics later. I have an M140 spring that I'm ready to drop in it which I will do after BH, not much time so I figure ill stick with what I have for now. Anyway I got a metal body, a new metal one-piece hopup (matrix if i remember correctl, could be wrong), a new Promy TBB at just longer 509mm like 550mm ( I think), now I want to install a flat hop but I'm not sure how to go about it. If anyone knows where there is a good guide or some good reading material on the subject feel free to post it.
Thanks guys!
