M140

So, I traded my Echo1 M14 for Stealth Hero's M14 SOCOM today. He didn't seem to remember what he'd done internally. I know it's shooting a bit slow for a DMR, so a new spring and some DIY will be the first thing I do. However, I'm worried about the GB holding up. Does anyone know if stock CA V7 gears/piston can hold up to an M140(I don't know if it's stock, but I'll assume it is until I learn different.

They should be able to, but shouldn't you chrono it first to see what spring is in it? If Stealth doesn't remember, it might already have one inside.

Anyway, as anything else, shim it and correct the AoE, and your gears and piston should hold up.

He says in his armory thread that it is CQB rated, and he also told me in person that it might be flat hopped. If it is flat hopped, it's not getting as much range as it should be.

I actually think I'm going with an M150. The whole point of getting the CA was so gears would be cheaper and easier to find, so if for some reason they can't holdup I'll upgrade them.

If it's a CA, then the gears are version 2, not 7. Their mechbox's are virtually indestructable, so you dont need to worry about that. I'd prefer using 100:300 helical torque gears by SHS since it's only an m150, since the gears easily pull my m170. I'd probably replace the piston right off, but it might be wiser just to upgrade what breaks.

I am planning on following the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it" when it comes to new parts.
