KC-02 V2 barrel issue solved?
I own a KJW kc-02. Fun rifle. Works great and looks great.. for the most part.
You see, because I own a version 2, it doesn't come with the awesome barrel thread, but I noticed something that got my hopes up. At first I thought they replaced the original outer barrel with an entirely new design but instead what they seem to have done is have painted the outer-edge of the original barrel and replaced the stock threads with an orange screw-in plug.
I believe that it is possible to remove and replace the plug (which would be a dream), but I have no idea as to how. overcoming the glue is already one heck of a challenge which I expect to face, but I need to get a grip on it in the first place. That is where I need help.
I'd like some ideas on how to get the plug out (possibly without breaking it.) AND find a place to buy the original barrel thread piece.
My idea is to drill holes into it and use something solid to stick in them and turn the plug. Then it's just a feat of strength. Any better/more well thought out ideas?
(I like the prospect of having the option to switch between orange tips, black flash hider, and suppressors/amplifiers)

You can unscrew it just like any other AEG flash hider to expose threads.

The version 2's don't have that barrel thread. That's the issue. I have to find a way to get the plug out, then buy a barrel thread to put in it's place

Hmm. The site I got that from said that it was the Version 2, but I guess they could've made a mistake. Your idea about drilling the holes seems like it might work, but it might break the plug. You could probably modify the barrel to put threads on it, though, and just buy a cheap, threaded orange tip. Once you get the plug out, you could probably glue a thread adapter with a 14mm- end and another end with a diameter slightly smaller than the barrel's diameter. Then you could put pretty much whatever you wanted on the end.
Remove the barrel plug, get this or something like it, sand it down until it snugly fits, and glue it into the end.
From retailer pictures, I can tell that your barrel is about 2.5cm. I'm not sure exactly how wide that adapter is, but obviously you'd want to measure your barrel and choose one at least as big.

Re: KC-02 V2 barrel issue solved?
Thanks. That works, but now I just need to find a way to get the plug out. I was afraid the drilling would break the plug as well which is why I was asking for other ideas on the matter.
I happen to have an old broken L96 lying around as well so could compare the ends of the barrel and see how well that example you had might fit. It looks promising.
And no version 2 has the barrel thread anymore. Many sites just carry over the same description and miss-advertise

It doesn't really matter if you break the plug if you replace it with a threaded one. If you wanted to have an orange tip for transportation, you could just screw something like this on. From my personal experience, it's hard to get plastic barrel plugs/ flash hiders off without breaking them.

You do not need an orange tip to transport airsoft replicas, even across state lines.
