VFC 416 CQB Issues

Post by Jon The Student » Thu Apr 18, 2013 1:20 pm

Good afternoon gentlemen (and ladies, not sure if you lasses inhabit this forum),

I just received my Umarex H&K 416 CQB (Which was OEM'd by VFC), and much to my disdain, the rifle does not take to my G&G, MAG, WE Tech, or Echo 1 Magazines. It does feed correctly with the included magazine, but the winding function is ridiculous (For those of you who don't know, there is a small and slender wrench to wind the magazine from a small hole in the side) to use in the field. Before I went off and started sanding or taping things, I would like some input. From what I searched on the internet, I was not able to find anything, just my luck.

If you would like pictures or more information, please inquire and I will get it up asap.

Thanks for your time,
Jon

(P.S. Will the second generation 416 by VFC take to a standard V2 Hopup unit?)

There's no wheel on the bottom of the included mag to spin?

For your feeding issue. These other mags do work in other guns, correct? What bbs are you using? What rps is the gun shooting at?

Test to see if the other mags work when you push them up into the gun, or if rocking them to the front or back helps it feed better.

Yep, no wheel. Just a small hole for the wrench, something about preserving authenticity.

The mags have worked for years, from the WE Tech M4 AEG, to G&G Combat Machines, to my old VFC Mk18.

We pushed them up, but did not rock them back and forth, I will test this here shortly and report back.

Upon further scrutiny, it seemed the mag release latch that retains the magazine until pushed was a tad large for most of the magazines. After a hair of shaving, all of the magazines are feeding just fine, the magazines were just not fitting in correctly. Thanks Star_Folder for the quick reply. But I am still curious if a standard V2 Hopup unit will work on this rifle.

Good to hear, I'm glad it wasn't anything too difficult.

And what kind of hop up is it? A black one with a wheel adjustment?

Psh, why would you want to replace it, those hop up units are awesome.

But they are also standard M4 hop up units, so a normal one should fit. I know Madbull and Prowin chambers would fit, but more traditional chambers might not, depending on how the gun is built. If it's like the 417 with the full bolt travel, then a standard M4 chamber won't fit, otherwise, if it's just the normal half pull like their M4s, then a normal chamber should fit. Best idea is to just grab one and test if it'll fit in the upper receiver.

Gotcha. And speaking of which, what are the wheeled ones called? So I Google the tutorial to disassemble it.

I can't speak for the V2, but I know with the DX version of the first VFC 416 with HK trades, you can use a G&P hop up chamber without any problems. It eliminated feeding issues for my buddy just by changing the chamber out.

I think they are called Fast mags? The disassembly should be just about the same as other high caps.

I thought Fast Mags were those ABS mag pouches that clip to one another?

Just Google airsoft Hicap magazine disassembly for something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byV8l9FHZlo

Oh no, I meant the hop up with the big singular wheel.

Rotary type. Some examples of rotary type chambers for ARs include the prowin and madbull ultimate, etc.

With just a single wheel? The only ones like that I know of are the G3/Sig 55x hop ups, the G36, AUG, M14 (which aren't what you're looking for) and the MK16 from Dboys/E1.. And ummm... the 417 hop up chamber, and of course the Madbull Ultimate hop up chamber...

That's all I can think of.

EDIT: And of course Dom beat me to it... :-p
