AK Front Sight Threading
AK Front Sight Threading
Hey guys I got a problem here. A few months ago I tried to remove the flash hiders from my two AKs and when I did I destroyed the threading. I've tried to find these parts to replace them, but I can't find them anywhere. I was wondering if anyone here knew where to get them or had any idea how to fix this. Also what did I do wrong to cause this destruction of the threading?
Here is what they look like:
The left one is a Dboys and the right one is a Cyma.

Re: AK Front Sight Threading
get a tap/threading kit from autozone $15/$20, bring the sights with you so you can make sure they'll have the right size

That probably won't solve his problem since he basically ripped the threads right off. It's worth checking, but I think that the barrel section left visible is not big enough to make 14mm threads.
If I remember correctly RSOV has a lot of DBoys and CYMA front sight posts.

The tap/threading idea is good, but SteevoLS is right, the tip is to worn down.
I checked RSOV and I couldn't find the sights. By any chance do you know of another place that sells them?

Which way did you twist the flash hider to remove it?

Re: AK Front Sight Threading
Best I can find right now is the LCT AK74 front sight block/muzzle brake combo. If you still have the original brake I would just JB weld it on with (make sure it's straight!) and then run a 1/4"ish drill bit through it to make sure the BB won't hit anything. If you replace it with a pot metal DBoys/CYMA front sight it will just strip out again.
$55 (double that and you could buy a whole additional chiclone AK) http://www.foxairsoft.com/external-part ... ash-hider/

Re: AK Front Sight Threading
I bet you can get the barrel section free of the sight, and then work on correcting the threads

Re: AK Front Sight Threading
I turned it clockwise to remove it.
That LCT sight would probably work, but it is a little expensive.
Why is it so difficult to get the flash hider off of these brand of AKs?

Re: AK Front Sight Threading
I have an idea to possibly fix the threading, but if I can't fix it then I'll put the muzzle back on in a way similar to what SteevoLS said.

Thanks guys for giving me hand. I'll let you know how it turns out.
