Though it can be done and would presumably suppress sound from the gearbox more so, I have never filled the entire void of either (that would be impractical for maintenance). I have put some pieces of foam to buffer the vibration transfer between the GB and body though. Bullpups are always easier to make more quiet in anycase.

Not so much that as clamshell bodied guns.

Clamshell means it's easier to add foam around the GB, but the fact that bullpups are easier to make more quiet downrange stands.

Wrong,  :D And yes, the insides of the FN2000 are very similar to that of the AUG. There is plenty of room for foam to quiet the gun. The only thing is that it has a V6 gearbox instead of a V3, so a silent piston head/cylinder head combo won't fit in the gun.

It wouldn't matter. According to the law, anything that can attach to the front of a real weapon and suppress even ONE shot is considered a suppressor and therefore requires a class three license with an extra tax stamp. Without that, you can get it confiscated. If you SELL one, your going to jail.

Wrong, to legally possess one you just need to pay the tax stamp and the paperwork attached to it.  Class 3 License SOT dealer refers to the FFL person.  You will go to jail if you possess, manufacture (includes intent), or sell a suppressor without legally being able to do any of the above.

Doubtful an airsoft mock suppressor made of China pot metal would explode on a small caliber weapon.  It'd be more likely to melt or deform and be hit by a bullet leaving the barrel (if they were even made within spec not to cause a baffle strike in the first place).

Back to your gearbox quieting discussion.

Nope, V6 silent sets are manufactured as well. (The only thing different being the cylinder head obviously) I had a Systema one in my old P90. Anyway, FN2000s do not use a V6, they use a proprietary design that is somewhat similarly shaped, but definitely not a V6. I also found some that use a V3.

Also, that's not Gabe. Gabe's forum name is "Gabe" ;)

In any case, I need to go buy a class three stamp for my potato, so I'll see you guys later ;D.
