Any suggestions for a new motor?

Check out Matrix motors. That's what Steevo has in his SPR.

The g&p motors are really nice, jg's especially the blues are nice for raw torque as well. I currently have g&p m170 in my m4 and it works pretty well.

I am a bit of a jerk.
There have been a lot of games since the last fatality. Roses are red, violets are blue, so is your car at 102

Systema magnums used to be unparalleled. Dont kniw if that still holds true or not.

Systema Magnum motor is good, but the pinion gear might as well be made out of butter.

What about the AMP motors? I've heard good things about them. Anyone with firsthand experience?

It is still unparalleled ... as the biggest waste of money in the motor world. You can get motors with more torque for less than half the price of a Systema, and you can get faster motors for less than half the cost. You can get almost exact replicas for less than half the cost.

What are you wanting to do? Personally, I really like G&P motors, but SHS makes some great cheap motors. Lonex motors are supposed to be very good as well.

Also, motor heat comes from resistance within the electrical system, meaning the motor doesn't have enough power and is struggling to pull the spring. If the motor can't pull the spring, it will "click" and start to get warm for the same reason, no power is flowing, and you've got an extreme resistance build up at the motor. An AB mosfet will also cause motor heat build up.

But I've done several builds with M150s or above, and the motors don't get hot. As long as they have enough power flowing to them, and the gun is shimmed properly, they run just fine.

What type of battery do you use? I don't think I screwed up the shim job, but it was my first time, so I'm sure improvements can be made.

I use an 11.1v 20c 2000mah lipo. And I'm sure everything is fine. It sounds like your biggest problem was the motor height, which is part of shimming. Now that it's situated better, you should see an improvement in how fast your motor gets hot.

Yeah it is improved. would an 11.1 lipo help or would that just make it worse?

At this point, I think it would heat the motor up simply because it's very powerful. Right now, if you still don't like the heat it's putting off, I would look into getting some new wires. Usually stock wiring is pretty crappy and limits your system more than the lack of power.

Well, I had skywalker rewire this gun already, so it no longer has the crappy G&G wiring.

Cool, well then good shimming and motor height is about as good as you can get, if your motor is still getting hot, then I would think it's something up with your motor.

As Stealth said, motors do get warm. But if it's getting hot, then you should probably consider a new motor.
