Stock gearbox =/= Must stay at 7.4v with a LiPo. There is far more to it than that.

I just run everything on 11.1v lipos until they break, then repair. More often than not the gearbox doesn't break, and that's with...

Assuming it is doing the usual "stop midcycle and jam because I don't have enough of a power train to continue from that point and complete the cycle" you will probably want something with a bit more discharge than that. Alternatively you can make sure you have a buddy with a stronger battery nearby to use for a sec to complete the jammed cycle, assuming that is the issue.

I thought you said the gun stops firing? You said you have to take it apart and upon reassembly, it works again. This is a classic "not enough power form the battery" problem. You should consider a larger battery than 8.4v, at least get a 9.6v NIMH battery. That way you wouldn't have to switch chargers or anything. But a lipo would really be better in the long run.

...seeing as LiPos are inherently superior power sources for airsoft. NiMH and NiCad batteries are simply outdated technology. Pound for pound and cubic inch for cubic inch, they have lower discharge rates, less capacity, and slower charge times than LiPos. They're also more expensive. There is no reason not to switch to LiPos as soon as you can afford to, which shouldn't be long.

A good charger and good battery, if not a few good batteries.

But wouldn't it be better to have a good, solid working gun before you get everything else? You don't need a pistol, vest, or anything like that to be a good player. But you DO need a gun that fires when you pull the trigger.

That's true so do they make standard wall chargers for lipos?
