Cheap Upgrading

Hey Guys,
I am looking to upgrade the JG M16 UFC I am getting to 400fps for it to be a DMR. On Airsoft GI it says it shoots 400fps+, but I have my doubts. On Evike it says the gun shoots 360-380fps. I know the easiest way is to just drop a FTK in it. Problem is, I am low on cash. What I was wondering is that is there an easier way to upgrade.
Thanks

your real probelm is that 360-380FPS isn't good enough for you, when in reality at that FPS it'll be just fine,
400fps isn't goal, its a MED limit

All you *need* for 400 is a 120 spring. I've seen chiclones run for years on 120s with no issues, but I've also seen a chiclone chew the piston up in the first thousand rounds on a 110. I'd be willing to bet that you could run a stock 2010 JG on a 120 (and therefore semi-only) for quite some time with no issues, though. The latest JG AEGs have far better gearboxes than last year's production run.
Protip: Spring rating * 3.28 (meters to feet) = Ballpark FPS with a .20g BB. Madbull chrono's their springs with .25g BBs, so add ~50 FPS for those.

So just drop in a M120, spring guide and a piston?

or just get a madbull tightbore barrell and a kick ass hopup...400 fps just complicates things...i would rather have full fun mode than 400 fps semi only! u can shoot acurate and far with less than 400 fps....

Oooor... if you don't mind giving up the fancy front end of the JG you're looking at, you could get this instead:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=28_100&products_id=4540
It comes stock shooting in the neighborhood of 400fps, has relatively nice metal externals, and the internals are on par, if not better than the JG's.

From what I saw of the stock 2010 JG, it already had a metal spring guide and a decent piston. I'd personally just drop in the 120 and replace the piston if and when it stripped.

A good rule of thumb with JG guns in general : use them until they break, then upgrade.

This model already comes with an M120, and should be between 370-400. You said you want it to be 400 because you want a DMR? 400FPS is not a DMR. If you want it to be just under 400 and it isn't, drop in a VP M120, but the extra ~20 FPS you will gain (at most, as it already comes that way) will not make it a DMR, and will not be worth the money spent. What exactly are you wanting here?

I'm looking for a mid-range rifle that I can use to hit people out at a good distance. So yeah, its not really a DMR.

It'll come stock at the standard assualt rifle FPS, 370-400. If you want to retain full auto capability, but get more range and accuracy than you want to look at hopup, BB, and barrel upgrades, not spring ones.

So if I want the gun more accurate, just drop in a TB, hop up, and heavier bbs?

yup. High fps seems to cause more problems then it is worth.
