THE age old question finally answered...

Post by Dominum » Fri Jun 25, 2010 6:04 pm

"Wut am bestest gun?"

We've all heard it from nearly every new player, and at some point have asked it ourselves. The answer is always debated, ambiguous, and never definitive. Well, I can finally say that I have an answer, and it is simple and defensible with facts.

Firstly, it is assumed that the answer must take into account affordability, durability, accuracy/range, FPS, internal and external build quality, and it should obviously be a popular model as well. It must be affordable; $240 and up is affordable. It must be durable; the AEG in question has had thousands and thousands of rnds through it, all on a LiPo at 26RPS in both semi and long full bursts with ZERO internal wear, even on the piston. It must be accurate and have good range; this has excellent accuracy and range as is. It must have a good starting FPS; at just under 400FPS with a .20g, it is the perfect FPS for the standard assault rifle setup in this state. It must have good internal AND external build quality; the gearbox comes well lubed and shimmed (which I can't say about nearly any other stock AEG), and it has an excellent metal body. It must be a popular model; M4.

What is this perfect stock gun you ask? An 09 and later VFC M4 E series. It is, without question, the best of all aspects as far as an average AEG goes. The one thing it needs to be perfect is a mosfet, as with any AEG. If you are looking for these things in an AEG, I highly recommend buying one. There are many great manufacturers out there that make great AEGs, but if you want the best combinations of all aspects in a completely stock gun, this 'am teh bestest'.

For the record, he was just installing sorbothane in the gearbox for a little less noise... as it turned out, Henry was VERY impressed with the gearbox. There was already sorbothane there, too.

Seeing as I'm no ROF freak, I don't really care about using a lipo, all I needed was a durable gun! So... that was a good benefit, had to lend off some $  :'( so I still have enought to buy so thank you for that.  :)
Now, I once heard some bull crap about me wanting to take dumps on people's lawns, and I can personally assure you, this is true.

Yes, Dominum, DON'T LOSE THE BOLT CATCH SPRING.

The spring really looked just like a trigger spring, so I'm sure I could fix it if I felt motivated enough to tear it down.

This might be an ultra-noobish question, but since you've run yours successfully on a lipo for quite some time, is it safe to assume that this gun will run on a 9.6 no problem?

Definitely. Unless you get a BIG 9.6, it would put less stress on the gun than my 11.1v 1600mah 20C lipo.
