Can you make a sniper a CQB?

Well I sure think you can. I have a m234 gen 3 master sniper, and the stock broke off. As you can see i have great handyman skills and gave it a pistol grip.

The gun performs just like before, sucky. So would chopping the majority of the barrel off mess it up at all? I thought i could add a little diagram to show what i mean by chop.

This may sound really stupid in trying to do this, but what else is there to do to a pistol gripped snipper?

Yes in theory you can "Chop" off the barrel. Not knowing how this model of rifle is made, but from my experience with a UTG L96, there is an outer metal barrel with the core barrel. The core is the actual barrel that the bb travels down. If you just straight chop the barrel your at risk of damaging the inner barrel. If it shoots like crap, no need in hurting it further more. I recommend removing the inner barrel, cutting the outer how you please, and use the correct tools to cut the inner. With the reduction in size of the inner barrel, you will lose accuracy as well as range, but if your in CQB..not really a huge factor.

You're basically creating a bolt action shotgun...did I really just say that..

Good luck man, it's nice to see some ingenuity behind what people do with bad guns haha.

Well it feels sick nasty, in a good way. Its a little front heavy (duh) and its very manuverable. But would there be any rules against haveing a bolt action shotgun, which in my book sound like one of the coolest guns ever?

Josh- your right about the inner and outer, and cutting through the outer isnt an issue for my hacksaw. but when you say 'correct tools' for the inner what do you mean? Also if you've ever used one of these rifles, it will shoot maybe 100 feet before dropping. Do you think if i was to leave the barrel the length it was (its still pretty manuverable) it would still be a viable threat in cqb?

I believe bolt action and cqb will never equal viable threat.  It would take a lot of skill to pull that one off.  Doesn't mean you should not try it.

Ive been playing backyard and field games with my friends, me vs all and normally my bolt vs their AEG, so its not new to me. Its like using a pump shotgun (which mine has a retractable m4 stock now :D) except you have to pull it back harder. I probably will come to the Hangar game and get raped trying it.

I guess this may actually work because ARES makes an L96 with a folding stock-

and Laylax makes an extremely short outer barrel.

While the idea of this link may not be for CQC it may give some ideas on what to do.

It's a style of pipe cutter and it has a tool on it that can bore the end of the barrel...the name escapes me, anyone know its exact name?

the utg guns may take an aeg type barrell, not sure. so you may not even have to custom cut a barrell jsut get one close tot he length you need

Why not just make a stock? You could carve one out of wood or buy a cheap LPAEG ($20-30) and takee off the stock and glue it to your rifle.
