Time to go all out

Some of you know im building a VLTOR M4 right now.  With tax time coming, ive decided its time to turn my attentions to the internals on the gun as well.  Im using a G&G CM M4 as the base gun. Its currently chronoing approx. 300 fps.  When complete id like it to shoot around 380-390.  I have the spring already, but now im thinking of upgrading the internals to be able to handle play for a long time with minimal issues.  The gun has never been opened to my knowledge, so all parts are stock, and in an unknown condition.  I know next to nothing about the differnt kinds of gears, pistons, motors, etc, and would appreciate anyones input on building an all around solid weapon

Heck no. Tax man or not, that makes no sense. A spring will cost you somewhere in the region of $15, and is all he needs.

G&Gs are solid guns out of the box. If I were you, I'd put in a M120, get it reshimmed, and run it till it breaks. An M120 is not a very stiff spring, and you could very possibly run the gun for quite some time with no issues.

Well i already have what I think is an m120.  i say think since it was given to me out of the package.

I think im going to go with a polycarb piston, but again, i dont know the actual condition on the internals.  im owner #3 for the gun, and the original owner was hard on it.

how will putting in the stiffer spring affect my ROF?

edit:  the m120 is NOT installed yet

Depending on your current spring, a new M120 will probably be a little slower ROF, but with increased FPS. I would consider opening it up, checking your gears, piston, piston O ring and so on. Replacing a bad O ring can do wonders, and is extremely cheap.

i was actually planning on giving this to dom to install the new spring already, as well as do a tune up.  so ill be able to find out what condition everythign is in then.

id like to have a gun with a decently high ROF, it fires pretty fast now on an 8.4v.  been considering rewiring to the rear so i can put my batteries in my stock, as well as getting one of steevo's mosfets.

as well as getting one of steevo's mosfets.
I highly recommend that you do that. I have had nothing but good happen with the one's I have gotten from him.

Yeah, I hear that Steevo makes good MOSFETs. You should definitely get at least a dozen of them.

New spring, overall Dom tuneup, and a nice 9.6 in the stock and you will be good to go.

Sounds like there is a concensus then. I can tune it up, custom wire it and install a Steevofet, install your spring, and let you know if it is wise to replace anything inside or just run it as is until something fails and you can put in a better part.

Not to be confused with Boba Fett.

The stock G&G internals should be able to handle the M120 without a problem, though it wouldn't hurt to replace the piston. If you have Dom tune it up, he can give a lot more info than anyone in this thread can, since no one knows what shape your internals are in.
