I am wanting to upgrade my 2010 KWA M4A1 with a 6.01 tight-bore barrel and I want to know what the best barrel is for the price. I can spend around $50 for this barrel, and any input on experiences would be helpful.

I have used the ASGI 6.01 I liked it and for a cheap price its worth it. I am not a fan of 6.01 in something other then DMR or snipers but if you keep it clean you are good to go.

I would go with an Edgi tightbore barrel....It is 65 dollars and and is made for your kwa m4a1..
It will fit the 2gx hop chamber very well ....If you do decide to purchase one here is the link but they are out of stock right now...  If you buy a edgi from somewhere else than kwausa.com make sure it has the Kcut...it will fit the best

Because everyone knows that you're supposed to upgrade the barrel first and completely ignore your hop-up, silly :P

But seriously, I have other upgrades coming in for Christmas and I figured this would be a nice way to top it all off. I'm also getting the 510mm to get my gun m16-length. Plus I don't mind cleaning my barrel every game and I only use hi-quality bb's.

And thanks Rev, I wasn't sure if I could trust ASGI brand products.

So will other tbbs not fit or should I get another hop-up chamber?

heres a thread some inner barrels and buckings that fit the 2gx hop chamber

BARRELS & HOP-UP BUCKINGS
Systema hop up bucking - worked with stock hop up and DBC barrel
Guarder clear silicon 50% hopup bucking tested with stock barrel/JBU Tightbore/stock hopup
  DB Customs barrel -
JBU Tightbore Barrel  with stock hopup and bucking.
Prometheus  TB with stock bucking
KM-Head  Tightbore with Stock Hopup and Stock bucking/nub.
Firefly soft  bucking fit with Mad Bull Black Python tight bore
EDGI Tightbore Barrels  and stock buckings and chamber
PDI barrels and stock buckings

Not all inner barrels will work correctly because the 2gx hop chamber is  smaller than other chambers for better airseal with there nozzle....I personaly would never change the hop up chamber or bucking on the kwa 2gx...or any other internals for that matter...I have a pdi 6.01 that i custom cut to length for my kwa sr-5 and not only did the groupings and range improve but the fps went up from 350 to 380...Since the 2gx kwa's come with a 6.05 inner barrel i see no reason to spend money on buying a 6.03... you won't tell very much difference at all...Just be carefull going up to far in barrel length...Range isnt all about how long your barrel is ...  My opinion is get the edgi and keep the 2gx bucking or save some cash and get the pdi barrel and keep the 2gx bucking...

sorry for the long post...im sure i left something out as i always do...

Barrel length actually has nothing to do with range. You should do some reading because some techs contend (and I really can't say where I fall on this as I have not done adequate testing) that 6.01mm barrels are less accurate than 6.03mms. I have heard arguments and in field tests that both support and deny this, so I'm not sure. I would certainly do some serious reading on it before you make a decision though.

awesome....there's another barrel for the list....did he use the stock bucking as well?

isn't that the masamune barrel by airsoft gi? And would you happen to know the machining tolerance's on that barrel?

Well I have a problem with my stock hop-up bucking. It has to go through a "warming up" process and its annoying to have to waste 100+ bb's just to be able to use the gun. And I had planned on replacing it with a firefly hard bucking and rubber along with a 6.01 inner barrel. And where did you read that, Dom? Could you post a link because I'd like to read up on it.

I know Gabe and/or Angelmaker had a thread that talked at length about it a long time ago on the SCAA, PM one of them or dig around for it on there. Vanquish mentioned something along those lines a while back as well, but I don't remember the details. Look around major forums for direct fixed variable comparisons, they provide the best actual data and are much better than hearsay.

Oh, and the issue you are speaking of usually means there is some lube somewhere along the line that is causing the first few BBs to not have the proper hopup affect. Did you put silicon oil in your mags?
